Biography
Tatiana “Lawtina” Mendez is a highly sought-after bilingual attorney (English and Spanish) and a published author of "Virginia Child Custody Guide," which is available as a paperback from Amazon. She helps clients in complex child custody cases, and practices in the areas of family law and family-based immigration. Tatiana has extensive experience in contested cases and has also represented the best interests of children as a Guardian ad litem assigned by the Court. Tatiana has additional training as a mediator, and is well known for being able to settle even the toughest cases. Tatiana’s clients will tell you that she is kind and empathetic, straight-forward, and always fully committed to doing what it takes to get excellent results in her cases.
Tatiana is an accomplished attorney in Hampton Roads. Prior to the launch of her career, Tatiana earned a B.S. degree in Psychology and a B.A. degree in Philosophy from Virginia Commonwealth University, with a minor in Religious Studies. Her collegiate experience includes an internship with the Central Intelligence Agency and study abroad in Spain at the University of Salamanca (she earned a top score in the International Fluency Exam for Spanish Translators). Tatiana received her law degree from Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach. During law school, she volunteered as a tutor for juveniles at the Norfolk Detention Center and as a Student Bar Association mentor. She also interned for a year for the Federal Public Defender’s Office in Norfolk, VA.
Outside of the workplace, Tatiana loves to remain active with her two little boys. You can find Tatiana twirling in the air on aerial silks (like in cirque du solei) or playing outside. Tatiana considers herself a taco-aficionado.
