Speeding and Improper Stop on Highway

We live out of state and our daughter is a JMU Student with very limited highway driving experience who has never been pulled over before. She was coming home at night on 81, had passed some tractor trailers and nervously exceeded the speed limit. Having never been pulled over before she pulled ov...er to the closest side of the highway, to the Left, instead of pulling over to the Right side of the road (which we see in our state all of the time). She was charged with Reckless Driving for speeding and Improper Stop on a Highway for pulling to the wrong side of the road. We did research and found out how serious these charges are in the state of Virginia! We knew our daughter would need a lawyer and found Mr. Keefer. Mr. Keefer was very knowledgeable about what would need to be done in hopes of getting these charges reduced. His secretary Beth immediately provided us a “to-do” list to complete prior to appearing in court. On the day of court, Mr. Keefer was able to get the Improper Stop charge dropped and the Reckless Driving charge reduced to Improper Driving upon the completion of a Driver’s Safety Class, 1 year unsupervised probation, community service and a $ 500 fine. Compared to the charges she was facing (a possible Criminal Record) we are very happy with this outcome and thank Mr. Keefer and Beth for all of their guidance.

Simply Amazing

I received a Reckless Driving charge for going 89 on a 70 interstate while driving through Virginia. Mr. Keefer was able to get the case postponed for a couple months while we worked on paperwork (character letters, completing an online driving school and so on), and then was able to get the charge r...educe from Reckless Driving to Improper Driving (not a misdemeanor like Reckless Driving). Mr. Keefer was amazing -- I couldn't have asked for anything more. He and his office helped me through every step of the process, and there were no issues with the fact that I hold a UK license and live out of state. He showed a great deal of knowledge about the relevant parties (the State Trooper that stopped me and so on) at every stage. Thanks so much!!

I am glad that we were able to help you. Sometimes people forget how important it is to know the individuals involved in the resolution of the case. Fortunately I have been practicing law in the Shenandoah Valley for over 30 years so I know the folks involved in the cases I take.

Job well done

Bob's capable, efficient representation saved me two long trips to court. He got my RD charge first continued for 6 months, then dropped upon submission of evidence of good performance during that time and other character evidence--and he knew exactly what I needed to submit. Beth at his office is ve...ry capable and cooperative. I'd absolutely recommend him, or rehire--which hopefully won't be necessary!

Shocked College Freshman!

You are in excellent hands with Bob and his colleague Beth Todd. Our freshman child at James Madison University was arrested by the police in his dorm room and charged with intoxication in public. Bob successfully had the case dismissed. He was reassuring throughout the process, answered all of our... questions in advance of the court date and helpfully suggested steps that our child could take to better the changes of getting the case dismissed. OOPS!

Without a doubt, Mr. Keefer is a blessing in disguise and I was very fortunate to obtain Keefer Law Firm to represent me. I was pulled over outside of Harrisonburg VA and charged with reckless driving for speeding - 83 in a 60 MPH zone. Rather frightening to be facing a substantial fine, potenti...al jail time, a criminal charge, and the 11 yr. black mark on my DMV record (I think that stays regardless of the outcome). I work in the medical profession and penalties are applied from the VA Board of Medicine and my professional organizations. Needless to say, my car insurance would skyrocket, forever! Shortly after I received my ticket, I was inundated with brochures mailed from competing attorney offices. Mr. Keefer was strongly recommended by several of his colleagues who could not represent me because of the location of the Court. Mr. Keefer and his assistant Beth Todd, were reassuring and assisted me in obtaining documentation for Mr. Keefer to successfully represent me. Beth was very professional throughout the entire process, and did a great job of cajoling me to provide all the necessary information to help with my defense. Mr. Keefer is thorough and knows what he needs to represent you! I was unable to travel back to Harrisonburg because of an out of state assignment and Mr. Keefer again, calmed my fears regarding his ability to represent me in my absence. He never promised a positive outcome but remained confident in his abilities. Mr. Keefer was able to reduce my RD charge to improper driving. The fine was very reasonable but, most important to me, is not checking the "yes" box to the question; Do you have a criminal record?! I cannot verbalize enough positives about Mr. Keefer and Beth. I would highly recommend Keefer Law Firm to anyone finding themselves in a similar predicament in need of a trustworthy attorney. Thanks Mr. Keefer and Beth.
