For 37 years, Mr. Scherr has been a member of the J. Dudley Digges Inn of Court in Baltimore City, an organization where prominent lawyers and judges from all over the State of Maryland meet monthly to discuss issues in the practice of law. He was honored by that organization as Pupil of the Year in 1992-1993. He has also participated in mock appellate arguments, mock arbitrations, and numerous other presentations at the Inn. Mr. Scherr has also lectured on topics relating to handling personal injury cases at the Nuts and Bolts of Civil Practice in the District Court for Baltimore City seminar sponsored by the Young Lawyer’s Division of the Bar Association of Baltimore City. He has also written articles for the Maryland Association for Justice. Mr. Scherr has written several appellate amicus briefs on behalf of the Maryland Trial Lawyers' Association (now known as the Maryland Association for Justice). He receives referrals from many lawyers and has even represented many attorneys and their spouses in various matters.
Mr. Scherr grew up in Pikesville and still lives there today with his wife and two daughters who both graduated college at the University of Maryland College Park and Washington College, respectively. One daughter will start law school at the University of Virginia in the fall. Mr. Scherr is active in his community and previously served as President of the Summit Chase Townhouse Association, Inc., his local homeowner’s association and was a member of the Board for 15 years. He also actively offers free legal advice at the Lawyer Referral Service through the Baltimore County Bar Association on a frequent basis and is very active in the AVVO and Justia communities volunteering his time to answer questions online. He has spoken to elementary school students on Career Day on a regular basis.
I am a Towson attorney handling criminal defense, traffic ticket litigation, automobile accidents, and workers' compensation cases. I am a zealous advocate for my clients to helping my clients achieve the best possible result. I return all calls and e-mails promptly even on evenings and weekends.
Insurance companies never treat clients who represent themselves in car accident cases. I have been handling these cases for 35 years and have handled many hundreds of cases. I fight to get my clients' fair compensation for their injuries.
My goal in every criminal case is to protect my clients' liberty and to avoid a criminal record. I am not afraid to try their case and have gotten many acquittals. I also believe in preparing the case in mitigation. I am a strong advocate with many years of experience.
It is very stressful when a client receives a DUI and I understand that. I have handled dozens of MVA hearings to prevent the suspension of their licenses. I have obtained acquittals in DUI trials for both alcohol and drugs. Many clients can avoid a conviction in DUI cases.
I started out handling personal injury cases for a well known law firm representing people injured in automobile accidents and who were victims of medical malpractice. After eight years, I left to form my own firm. I have the experience and knowledge to get compensation for your losses.
There are numerous defenses to driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance, driving without a license, speeding tickets, and other traffic tickets. I analyze the law and prepare every case for trial. In many cases, it is possible to avoid a conviction and points on your driving record.
Workers' compensation cases follow special rules and procedures. A claimant is entitled to temporary total disability benefits while out of work, payment of medical bills, compensation for a permanent disability, and other benefits. I have been handling these cases since 1988.
