For Criminal cases in Cecil County, the same attorneys' names are thrown around and referred and there's endless red tape with most of them; you have to work around their schedule, your case is too small, cancellations, etc. I had a Violation of Probation case that was straight forward but I've seen friends get serious jail time for VOPs that were mismanaged or taken too lightly. I didn't have to wait weeks, or schedule a consultation down the road. I called in a sudden panic after finding out I had a warrant and needed to turn myself in. No other attorneys thought it was important enough to make time for it, but Elisabeth invited me directly to her office and patiently listened to the situation. I admittedly did the Probation requirements but not very promptly. By the time I arrived to the Hearing, she had already spoken with the Prosecutor and my Probation Officer. She was extremely thorough and straight-forward and I cannot believe how succinctly she handled my particular situation and had all parties agree on reinstating my probation. I was certain I'd have further stipulations to my probation or even more likely jail time as I've seen friends sent directly to jail for less violations. I am so grateful to have that dreadful feeling of imminent doom over with. Everything was smooth, thorough and calm for me. I actually felt bad for the other people in the Court because the Prosecutor was a shark. I really lucked out with Elisabeth Hellwig. Definitely exceeded my expectations. If you have a pending VOP Hearing or warrant, seriously do yourself a favor and meet with Elisabeth.

Elisabeth Hellwig defended my son in a criminal case. She was very clear on what could happen at each court hearing. My son and I asked a ton of questions via email and she was extremely responsive. Often returning answers within minutes. My son and I are extremely appreciative for her expertise and her understanding for my sons unfortunate circumstance. She was able to get the states attorney to make a fantastic deal for my son which benefited my grandson tremendously. No jail time. We can't say enough how grateful we are for all of her time and effort with his case. Highly recommend her for all services.
