HERE FOR YOUR FAMILY, THERE FOR THE COMMUNITY. BURNER PRUDENTI LAW, P.C. PUTS YOUR NEEDS FIRST, PROTECTING WHAT MATTERS MOST TO YOU.

Nancy Burner, Esq. is the founder of Burner Prudenti Law, P.C., a prominent Elder Law and Trusts and Estates firm established in 1995. Nancy holds the designation of a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA), awarded by the National Elder Law Foundation as accredited by the American Bar Association. Since 2014, Nancy has been selected by her peers to be included in Best Lawyers in America for Elder Law. Most recently, Nancy was recognized as the Best Lawyers® 2024 “Lawyer of the Year” for Elder Law on Long Island. Nancy previously earned this honor in 2020 and 2022. Inclusion in Best Lawyers is based on a rigorous peer-review survey comprising more than 8.2 million confidential evaluations by top attorneys.

Nancy is a former five term trustee for the Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection, a state administered agency which was created in 1981 to protect law clients from the misuse of their money by dishonest attorneys and to promote public confidence in the administration of justice in New York State. She is also a past president of the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association and a past co-chair of the Suffolk County Elder Law Committee.

In 2022, Nancy was inducted into the Hofstra University Maurice A. Deane School of Law Inaugural Hall of Fame as one of only 50 inductees. Hofstra Law established the Hall of Fame to honor alumni whose exemplary careers, or extraordinary service to the betterment of society, or outstanding contributions to the Law School have significantly impacted the Hofstra Law community and beyond. The Hall of Fame inductees were nominated by their peers, and selected by a committee of Hofstra Law alumni, faculty and administrators.

Nancy frequently lectures on the legislative changes, financial implications, and governmental benefits affecting the elderly and special needs population. In 2016, Nancy was named as an “Outstanding Woman in Law” by Hofstra University School of Law Center for Children Families and the Law. Later that same year, she was named by Manhattan Magazine as a Big Apple Entrepreneur winner.

For sixteen consecutive years, Nancy has been named as a Super Lawyer in the field of Elder Law. In the same publication, for five consecutive years, she has also been named a Top 50 Women Attorney in New York. Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

Nancy earned her Bachelor of Arts in 1985 from Stony Brook University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She graduated in the top 2% of her class, with distinction, from Hofstra University School of Law with her Juris Doctor in 1988. In 2011, Nancy returned to her alma mater as an Adjunct Professor, where she created their first law school course in Elder Law.

Nancy continues to grow her practice with offices in New York City, Setauket, Westhampton Beach, and East Hampton.

Dear Nancy I am very pleased with Kera Reed who helped me Resolving my Issue of My sister who took money from me and my mom.She got My sister off of my trust and mom as our trustee.I am grateful to Kera Reed advice she gave me to persue my judgement against my sister. We were able to get atleast $61,000 for me and $5,000 she took from my mom on credit card which she made charges on it for her.Kera Reed had advised me about getting Life Lock for me and my mom.She answered all of my questions proffesionally and informative. We are at the end now.Just have to see Kera one more time sometime in October to go over some more things.I give Kera Reed and ur Law firm a 5 star rating.Thank u so much for ur help.

Small Estate
Very pleased with the professional, informative meet we had with Gina Raio Bitsimis on March 18, 2021 to review how to proceed with our Dad's small Estate after he passed. Gina listened and answered questions very specifically. Giving extra details to help with Small Estate Court. We felt comfortable, and would recommend Gina and Burner Law.

A Wonderful Experience through a difficult time.
I found Nancy to be very caring and sensative during my difficult time placing my father into a nursing home. Her knowledge and her staff made me feel more secure in my decision. The Medicaid staff was wonderful to work with.

Lost my documents
Attorney's office kept notifying me that documents were ready to be picked up but each time made mistake after mistake. Need to get their act together.

medicaid application submitted with incorrect date
This firm was hired to submit a medicaid application for an effective date of November 1, 2014. On December 15 we received an email sating that the application was being submitted with a November 1st request along with a request for payment of back bills (90 days). Instead we discovered that the application was submitted with an effective date of December 1, 2014 and no request for arrears. Although the firm was aid for these services Nancy Burner is no longer returning calls.
