This spring, while on his way to JFK Airport for a trip with friends, my husband was given a ticket in Staten Island. He knew it was a bad stop, given that the officer stopped him just seconds (20 seconds, tops) after exiting the Verrazano Bridge, in traffic, and claimed he was traveling at 75 mph. T...hat just happened to be 25 mph over the speed limit of 50, which meant the ticket not only came with a hefty cost (over $500 with fees and surcharges), it also issued a mandatory 6 points. To make matters worse, because we live in NJ, fighting the ticket required that we drive back to Staten Island for the court hearing.
