Thank you Dan

Attorney Dan Blinn of Consumer Law Group is a wonderful and compassionate advocate for justice. Dan just settled a solar panel dispute for my 88 year old Father and won the case. My father now doesn't have to pay a 25 year loan for solar panels that have never worked from a company that went bankr...upt. Thank you so much for your service. My family can now have peace of mind

“They fought for me every step of the way and never left me in the dark.”

I came to Consumer Law Group during one of the most stressful times of my life, facing a predatory auto sale and CUTPA violations that left me with a car loan I simply could not afford. From the very beginning, Attorney Paulette, Attorney Blinn, and Dora treated my case with the seriousness and care ...it deserved. Professional guidance: They explained every step of the process clearly, making sure I understood my rights and options. Constant communication: I never had to chase updates. Whether by phone or email, they reached out before I even needed to ask, keeping me informed and reassured. Accessibility: I could always reach them easily, and they made me feel like my case truly mattered. Dedicated staff: was exceptional in organizing documents and correspondence, ensuring nothing slipped through the cracks. Results-driven: Even though I was prepared for a long process, they resolved my claim efficiently and secured a fair settlement. Thanks to their expertise, persistence, and compassion, my case was resolved in a way that gave me relief and justice. Consumer Law Group is not just a law firm — they are advocates who fight for their clients and stand by them every step of the way. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone facing unfair or predatory practices!!!

Outstanding Experience with Attorney Dan Blinn!

We recently worked with Attorney Dan Blinn on a consumer case involving a defective vehicle, and the outcome was exceptional. What started as a stressful and frustrating situation quickly turned around thanks to Dan’s deep expertise and commitment to helping us find a resolution. From the start, D...an was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about our case. He guided us through the legal process with clarity and confidence, always keeping us informed and supported. His communication was top-notch—responsive, transparent, and reassuring. Thanks to Dan’s diligence and strategic approach, the dealer agreed to take the car back, and we received a judgment that exceeded our expectations. His attention to detail and determination made all the difference. If you're facing a tough consumer issue, Attorney Dan Blinn is someone you want in your corner. He’s sharp, dedicated, and truly advocates for his clients. We’re incredibly grateful for the result and highly recommend Dan to anyone seeking strong legal representation.

Poor Experience with Attorney Dan Blinn

I consulted with Dan Blinn about a consumer law issue which I need legal assistance with. As part of the consultation I was asked to provide myriad documentation to Dan Blinn so that he could verify, evaluate and confirm the facts of my case. I was also asked to explain my case in detail, first to ...a staff member at Dan Blinn’s Consumer Law Group, and then again to Dan Blinn himself. The consultation with Dan Blinn took place at a time convenient to Dan Blinn, through an online meeting. This was an inconvenient time for me, as I needed to take off work, and arrange my schedule, but I was willing to do so. I reserved a private space and arrived at the meeting prepared. During the meeting, Dan Blinn asked me for duplicates of the same documents I had already provided to his office. Dan Blinn was unapologetic about losing my documents and blamed his office staff for it. After the meeting, Dan Blinn said I had a legitimate case and that he would take my case. I was relieved to hear that I would have some much needed help. What happened next is I read Dan Blinn’s fee agreement and communicated some valid concerns to him about the language of the agreement. It contradicted some of what I had read on his website regarding his fee arrangements. I expressed that I was vulnerable and did not want to sign something without fully understanding it. Abruptly, and without discussion or warning, Dan Blinn sent me a letter saying he decided not to take my case. After receiving the curt letter I contacted Dan Blinn to attempt and discuss the matter. He curtly declined. Dan Blinn's only response was that his clients have to “trust” him. Based on my experience with Dan Blinn, his idea of trust is very one sided. He asked me to verify and explain, numerous times, everything I told him about my case. Then when I needed assurances and clarification, before signing his agreement, he took exception and reneged on his agreement to take my case. This could have easily been worked out but Dan Blinn stated he knows he is the only attorney to take these kinds of cases in Connecticut. He made it clear he did not need clients and would not think twice to drop anyone that questioned him. I believe I had the right to ask questions about Dan Blinn's agreement, without fear of reprisal, just as Dan Blinn had a right to ask me for myriad documentation and explanations about my case before agreeing to take it. Dan Blinn refused to afford me that courtesy, professionalism, or decency. My experience with Dan Blinn is that he does not care about clients. Dan Blinn caused me emotional distress when he reneged on taking my case, without cause, after he had already agreed to take it. My experience consulting with Dan Blinn, over a considerable amount of time, is that he behaves vindictively, portrays a smug demeanor and lacks kindness and compassion in his practice of law.

Since this reviewer decided to post anonymously and is not someone who we accepted as a client, I cannot be certain who wrote this. But, I believe that I know who it is. It is true that I had agreed to accept this person's case, and we provided her with our standard form of fee agreement. That agreement provides that our fees are based upon the value of the work that we perrform and that they are recoverable only if we recover from the business that violated the consumer protection laws. This is standard language in all of our agreements, and every lawyer (known to me) that regulary handles consumer cases uses similar language. This reviewer sent an email in response and asked if we would do the case for a percentage of the recovery. She also indicated that she was not willing to proceed if we required her to sign that agreement. We do not generally handle cases on a percentage basis, because the value of the time required to handle a consumer case frequently exceeds the value of the claim. That is not a problem for the consumer, because the business violating the law is required to pay the fee under most consumer protection laws. I expained this to the reviewer, and she responded that she was not in agreement. She also stated that she believed that the firm had wacted deceptively by stating that we handled cases on a contingent-fee basis and that we took advantage of vulnerable consumers. We disagree with that accusation, of course, because our fee agreement is contingent - it just isn't based upon a percentage of recovery. Since the reviewer was not willing to proceed under our agreement, we sent her a letter confirming that we were nto handling her case. Several weeks later, the reviewer contaced us again and asked if I was willing to discuss taking her case. At that point, I did not think that she and the firm were a good match, and I informed her that we were declining to handle her matter. It is understandable that the reviewer is frustrated that she went through our evaluation process and that we were not willing to handle her case. The sad reality is that our firm is contacted by thousands of consumers every year. We are not able to represent everyone. When deciding whether to accept a case, we consider several factors. The most important factors are whether it is the type of case that we handle and whether the case has sufficient merit to proceed. There are other factors, including whether we think it likely that there will be problems interacting with the client during the course of the case. Mutual trust and respect are essential to a productive attorney-client relationship. As the many positive reviews from our clients attes, we enjoy such a relationship with the vast majority of our clients.

"I have never met Attorney Blinn in person though our law offices are both in the Hartford area, perhaps only 10-15 minutes away. However, I have seen his thoughtful answers and comments on Avvo's Q&A to Askers with consumer protection issues, mainly regarding car dealers and he provides knowledgeable, accurate, and practical advice about consumer protection laws. I also see that his law firm is devoted to serving clients with consumer protection related legal problems. In addition, I see that he, like me, earned his law degree at New York University School of Law. So, I cannot fault him for his legal education. Therefore, it is my pleasure to endorse my fellow lawyer in the Avvo community, Attorney Daniel S Blinn."

"Many years ago Dan and I had a case together. My client, one of several defendants, had an insurance policy that only covered costs of defense. When I told the adjuster that Dan was on the other side he said "settle the case" and paid the settlement amount, even though the policy didn't cover that payment. Why? Because he knew that Dan would not give up, would fight to the end, and would work hard for his client, all of which would have amounted to large attorneys fees, which the insurance company would have been paying. We have been friends and colleagues since then and I strongly endorse Dan as a litigator, and as a person."

Dan's knowledge of consumer law makes him more than an expert in the field, he's a trail blazer. Be it auto loan issues or debt collection harassment, Dan's ability to work through the facts enables him to give clients realistic pictures of what kind of outcome they can expect.
