I was charged with “assault on a police officer” a felony. Freaking Sheriff’s came in my house after my wife called them thinking I was going to hurt myself. They came in with pistols drawn and screaming for me to get on the floor, when I didn’t comply one young punk came up and hit me right in the face, I naturally reacted and defended myself. They ganged up on me and beat the Sh@# out of me. The one cop that took the first punch broke his hand hitting me on the head and now all of a sudden it turned into a felony assault! If these punk sheriffs’ are going to beat up on people in their own homes, then they should at least learn how to give a punch. Now because this new boody cop didn’t know how to hit and broke his hand punching me in the head, I was charged with “Felony assault on a police officer”. Also and naturally, their police report was full of lies and inconsistencies.
John Murray took my case very serious and fought for me, he had the original D.A. replaced and proved that I was medically unstable at the time, that the sheriff’s conduct was uncalled for and their actions were what initiated the violence. He proved that I was defending myself and that the officer broke his hand violating standard procedures.
The incident was dropped to an infraction for “disturbing the peace”, he got me time served for 3 days and that was it! I could have taken it to trial and John was ready and fired up to do it, but due to my previous record from over 15 years ago, I decided not to proceed any further and take the deal.
Now a couple years later I am trying to remove the infraction off my record and John is working with me to get it done.
I would definitely recommend John he’s the best criminal attorney I’ve ever dealt with, and I’ve had many during my earlier years.
Thank you John! You’re the best!! , and sorry it took so long for me to write this review.

In October 2011, a search warrant was served on me at my home in the City of Orange After a two and half year nightmare, which included 4 Prosecutors, 6 public defenders, one private attorney, extremely over-reaching in the courts in Orange County, John Murray took on my case. I was charged with Possession with Intent to sell of Marijuana totaling 10.7 ounces, and Possession with intent to sell of Methamphetamine for less than 1/4th gram of Methamphetamine. John was able to negotiate a settlement that included the dismissal of all gun charges, dismissal of the Marijuana charge, and a reduction of the possession with intent to sell to simple possession of a controlled substance. John at the time was not experienced in medical Marijuana defense(s). The Marijuana charge was the PRIMARY offense listed by the Police Department, and the DA. John was bale to illustrate to the DA that I had all the proper and legal documentation to the defense of the marijuana charges and was able to show the prosecutor that going to trial over marijuana on a defendant who is terminally ill would be detrimental to him and the District Attorney's office. He was also able to convince the Prosecutor that the meth was not mine. The simple possession charge was the best possible conclusion that the DA could hope to have obtained at trial. However, under our state laws here in CA, the presence of the meth and even my own legally registered, locked away in the garage, no ammunition for the guns still, under the laws of the State of California left me exposed to a 3 year mandatory minimum of 3 years in State Prison. He was able to convince the prosecutor who wanted jail time out of me no matter what to lower his ceiling of ail time to 60 days on a 120 day sentence giving me 50% credit and four days credit of time served that I did not do; I was in police custody for 4 hours total. The officer who had served the warrant on my hoe was forced into retirement at the age of 33 years old. Demonstrating that he was a bad actor in his field. Johns hands and the prosecutors hands were tied by law regarding the guns and the presence of a controlled substance. Even though they were not connected in any way; nor were the guns available to be used in defense or offense in any way. John was able to convince the prosecutor that I am a stand up guy and had the gun charges dismissed and the charge reduced to simple possession. The evidence against me included a total of $9,395 dollars in cash in my safe. John Murray demonstrated that the cash was fully accounted for and legal under our states Compassionate Use Laws and had half my money returned to me as part of the agreement. In the end, for Orange County, this is an extremely incredible and agreeable settlement in this kind of case. I recommend John Murray without any hesitation what so ever.

John is an excellent and professional attorney. He took my case immediately and explained everything to me without using legal terminology I was unfamiliar with. I was in a scary situation not knowing what was going to happen to me and John explained the different outcomes that I could possibly face. I didn't ever feel rushed during my appointment with him and he spent lengthy amounts of time talking with us on the phone about my case. His assistant was just as amazing, spending the same amount of time on the phone as well. They both did everything in their power to put me at ease during this stressful time. John handled everything for me and got my case dismissed. I would highly recommend his services to anyone that needs a criminal attorney.

I was referred to John by a friend for a DUI related case. His rates were competitive, he was always available, as well as Maggie (his assistant), he worked intelligently for me and was able to negotiate a .11 BAC down to a Wet Reckless.
I highly recommend him and Shouse Law to help you navigate through the embarrasing, costly, and life changing circumstances when you make a bad decision by having something to drink before you drive.

With Shouse's Law Group behind me, it didn't take long for me to feel that my case was in good hands. Attorney John E. Murray handled my very difficult DUI (0.15% BAC) case and went the extra mile in getting me the best possible outcome. He was able to win my DMV hearing and able to hang my jury trial (DUI/DWI) with a verdict of 6-6 and 11-1. It didn't stop there, John E. Murray never took my case lightly. With Attorney John E. Murray's knowledge of the law, he was able to get my case (re-trial) dismissed thru a motion. I am currently still a commercial driver thanks to professional service of everyone at Shouse's Law Group. A million thanks!! Thank you sincerely John E Murray.

I was charged with a dui-marijuana on my way home from college. With Mr. Murray's help, I was able to get it thrown out, as the cop had no reason to pull me over (he thought my plates were fake or something). Mr. Murray filed the motion to get it thrown out, talked with the prosecutor about the law, talked to the arresting officer, and got them both to agree on the unlawfulness of the stop, thereby killing the dui charge.

John was very empathetic, encouraging and honest in a time full of personal trepidation and calamity. I was in serious trouble as a multiple offender with another DUI. John did not promise to get me off without consequence, but he did promise to strategize and fight for me to get the best deal possible. John came through on his promise and got me out of an offer of one and a half years down to four months’ time in county jail. I would recommend the services of John Murray if you have an alcoholic related offense.

BACKGROUND: I am 20 years old and senior university student in engineering. I hired Mr. John Elwynn Murray to represent me to re-instate my driver's license that I lost due my medical condition – seizure.
FIRST CONTACT: I contacted John’s office on Wednesday and was granted an appointment to meet John’s assistant the same afternoon. John drove 50 miles to visit my family and me in Orange County on the Saturday afternoon of the same week by shortening his hike and weekend activities. During the meeting, John patiently and expertly explained the DMV process in detail and guided me and my family through the path very compassionately. He was exceptional in his knowledge of DMV matters and demonstrated a extraordinary demeanor. He treated me as I was his own son and attended to my anxieties and uncertainties in addition to help my family through this very challenging experience.
DMV HEARING: We prepared for the DMV hearing both from medical expert opinion as well as questioning and preparing me to be able to meet with the officer and address his questions. While I was waiting for my turn in the DMV hearing, I noticed that other lawyers had great regards for John and even the DMV staff and the officers greeted him and shake his hands and pat on his backs and some of them even hugged him. John was very liked by all his colleagues and associates in the DMV office which is an indication of the quality of his work and his exceptional conducts. We went through the hearing. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and the officer had great respect for him. The hearing was exactly as he indicated to me and the hearing went very well. It was so incredibly successful that the officer printed my temporary license in his office and signed it and gave it to me!
COST OF SERVICE: I received an exceptional service, and I felt that I was treated exceptionally fairly on the cost of the service. John was very flexible to provide payment plan for me to fit in my budget and to make sure the cost of his service would not be a hardship for me which I also greatly appreciated.
GENERAL PERSPECTIVE: In general, when a person needs a lawyer, it is a challenging emotional situation with much uncertainty and anxiety. It is during these times that the personality of the lawyer is very important specially when the path is unclear and one depends on the compassion and understanding of the lawyer in addition to his expert knowledge of the filed. I found Mr John Elwynn Murray to be exemplary in his legal expertise, professional demeanor and compassionate personal qualities.
RECOMMENDATION: If I need to hire a lawyer again, I will call upon John. I recommend Mr John Elwynn Murray with absolutely highest regards and compliments. I assure you that you would receive the best legal service and you will receive compassionate understanding and exceptional professional service.

My whole family found ourselves in a serious legal situation that no one could have prepared us for. John gave us hope that we so desperately needed. We were looking at serious life altering consequenses, to charges with false accusations about us from law enforcement. The D.A. and judge offered 2 yrs prison. John got us another D.A. and judge, with no jail or prison. He loves what he does and comes alive in the fight. He has what it takes to win! Thank you John, your the best!
