Biography
Born with a passion for justice and fair play, Daniel E. Kann has built a stellar career in criminal defense. His journey began at the University of Utah, where he distinguished himself as an exceptional student and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999. Not one to rest on his laurels, Daniel decided to pursue a career in law and subsequently enrolled in the University of San Francisco, School of Law. Here, he expanded his intellectual horizons, immersing himself in the comprehensive study of law. It was during these formative years that he became involved in a life-changing program at the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office. As part of this program, he had the opportunity to handle criminal defense cases while still a law student. It was a defining period in his life that helped shape his future, inspiring him to commit to defending the rights of individuals facing criminal charges. Following his admission to the State Bar of California in 2004, Daniel commenced his legal career in earnest, starting with a private criminal defense firm. This stint provided him with valuable insights into the practical aspects of criminal defense. Not one to settle, Daniel seized the opportunity to join the Kern County Public Defenders Office. His work ethic, dedication, and unrelenting drive saw him rapidly climb the ranks from handling misdemeanor offenses to managing serious felony trials in less than three years. In 2008, Daniel ventured into entrepreneurship and started his own legal practice - The Law Offices of Daniel E. Kann, now the Kann California Defense Group. His firm now represents clients facing serious felony and misdemeanor charges such as murder, manslaughter, vehicular homicide, rape, robbery, burglary, and assault, among others. Over the years, he has built a solid reputation for defending the rights of his clients, handling over 3,000 felony and misdemeanor criminal cases throughout Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, Kern, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties. Daniel remains actively involved in the legal community, maintaining memberships in various professional organizations such as the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), the California DUI Lawyers Association, California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, and the California Public Defenders Association.
