Child Abuse and Bail Jumping

Charles K. Kenyon Jr.

Case Conclusion Date:January 1, 2012

Practice Area:Criminal Defense

Outcome:Not guilty, dismissed

Description:Client was charged with intentionally head-butting his daughter. In Wisconsin it is a felony to intentionally cause bodily harm to a child. The defense was that although their heads had contacted, it was an accident, non-intentional. After he was charged with this a condition of his bail was that he have no unsupervised contact with his daughter. After being admonished by a family court judge that he had to maintain his ties with his children, he called his daughter and wished her a Happy Birthday on her birthday. He was charged with a separate felony for this. The first charge went to jury trial, the second was dismissed the day before the separate jury trial on that was set to start.
