Description: Trial court dismissed defendant's case for violating his constitutional right to a speedy trial. The state had taken almost 5 years to bring Reid's DUI case to trial, despite Reid's continuous requests for a speedy trial. The trial court found, and the Court of Appeals agreed, that the state's unjustified delay was unreasonable and untenable, and discharged and acquitted Reid of all charges.
