David v Nancy

Philip W. Mason

Case Conclusion Date:June 27, 2011

Practice Area:Divorce / Separation

Outcome:Settlement agreement providing equitable division of marital assets, alimony, medical insurance, life insurance.

Description:This was a twenty-seven year traditional marriage that ended when husband found someone else, and left the marital home. Husband was primary breadwinner and wife was homemaker and caregiver to the couple’s only child (emancipated). Wife had not been in the workforce for the past twenty-four years, suffered from numerous health problems, and had no marketable vocational skills. Husband demanded a divorce where the wife would take approximately one-third of marital assets and receive no alimony or medical insurance. The divorce was highly contentious and acrimonious requiring numerous actions, including counterclaims for fault, temporary orders, contempt, motions to comply, modifications, conciliation, discovery and continuances.
