Knowledgeable and willing to go the distance

I very much appreciated working with James. I had a relationship end where I had been the person with great credit -- and so all of our mutual debt was placed in my name. I looked into my future and I couldn't see a way out of what felt like an impossible situation. I felt ashamed -- I felt like a... failure. Then one day, I literally decided that I was worthy of allowing myself a second chance of living the life I wanted to live. I am a licensed attorney in Washington; however, I don't practice around bankruptcy. I knew I needed an attorney who had worked in the area long enough to have a positive relationship with Trustees and Court. Those sorts of relationships only develop over time, and make all the difference in what sort of out-come you can get. One of my best friends had decided to file bankruptcy. Her husband researched attorneys -- and decided MaGee was the best choice. My friend's experience with MaGee was really positive (it was fast with not surprises or delays). In meeting with him, I liked that he had practiced locally for some many years, was reasonably priced, and in speaking to him obviously kept abreast of developments in the law. I have seen at least100 attorneys interacting with thousands of clients over the years. I was really impressed that he was willing to work with me over multiple meetings so that I could get the best possible outcome. It turned out that my bankruptcy was more difficult than my friend's bankruptcy, so I spent longer preparing to file. He provided me with helpful insights. Really, I was amazed at how straight-forward and relatively painless the entire process was. I actually thought I would only qualify for a Chapter 13 -- but was able to file a Chapter 7. (Thinking about it was much harder than doing it.) I did see the reviewer on this website who complained that MaGee added debt to their bankruptcy. In thinking about it -- I wonder if he really read his or her own the bankruptcy filing. I'm an attorney (who doesn't practice in the area) -- and I want to say, the paperwork is fairly complicated. I didn't understand it all -- or what it all would mean -- and so I had to ask questions and keep asking questions until I understood exactly what it all meant. My thinking was, "I'm paying for a service, and I need to understand what's happening". I asked questions until I understood -- and was very please with the results I had. I don't think it's fair for a person to obviously not read and understand what they're putting their name to -- and then anonymously complain about the service they received. It is not legally possible for MaGee to simply add $7000 in debt to a person without their knowledge. Every single thing that happened or was reported on the forms associated with my bankruptcy came directly from me. During the Trustee meeting -- the trustee asks (under penalty of perjury) if you've reviewed the documents and if they're correct. The Trustee doesn't ask your attorney if the documents are true-- the trustee asks you. Would you just sign any old income tax form regardless of whether it was filled with made-up numbers? Would just sign any car loan -- without looking the payments? I asked A TON of questions -- he answered them -- I still didn't totally understand -- so I asked some more questions -- and he kept explaining until I was totally satisfied. I was very satisfied with my experience with James MaGee -- and would recommend him to anyone seeking a bankruptcy attorney.

Invaluable Attorney

Mr Magee gave us all the legal information regarding our situation, then let us make our decisions. Not knowing the laws, he helped us understand what we had to use in deciding. He was there for us when we had questions, so the whole experience became more down to earth, than frightening. It made us... realise we are only human after all. Thank you James.

Very knowledgeable attorney

My husband did a chapter 7 bankruptcy with Mr. MaGee last fall. We were a more difficult case because of our income level. He worked hard on making sure that my husband qualified for the chapter 7 before he filed. It was a close one but my husband qualified and he was discharged last month! I don't ...think that he would have if Mr MaGee hadn't worked so hard on making sure everything was perfect. Thanks to him and his wonderful staff my husband can move forward with his life.

Highly Recommend Mr. MaGee and Staff

James has guided us through the maze of Chapter 13 in a professional and straight forward manner. The advise he gives is "spot on" and timely. He inderstands the process that people go through when they come up against the wall and need help to get over this obstacle and move on with their lives. I w...ould highly recommend him and his staff.

I trust James Magee.

James Magee was the bankruptcy attorney I trusted to represent me in my bankruptcy. I don't trust lawyers easily. My trust in James Magee was not misplaced. Mr. Magee did everything he said he would, and more. James knew the law very well. I had gotten caught between an ugly divorce, which lasted two ...and a half years, and a surprising, recent slowdown in my self-employment income, and James Magee was there to be my bankruptcy advocate! Thank you, Mr. Magee.
