Jonathan Moffitt

I'm not sure where to start with Mr. Moffitt. I came to Mr. Moffitt's office nearly 4 years ago when a close friend paid for my first visit to receive advice about my separation from my (now) ex-husband. I was a lost woman who had the life sucked out of her from a very degrading marriage. Mr. Moffitt showed me compassion, empathy, gave me a reality check of my situation, and somehow ignited a bit of confidence in me to advocate for my children and myself. A couple of months after the first visit, I retained Mr. Moffitt to represent me. My divorce was long and drawn out due to a very narcissistic individual (I do not use that term lightly). Mr. Moffitt has always remained a voice of reason, an advocate for children, a fighter when needed, and communicates effectively in and out of court. This also stands true for Paralegal, Dian Rogers, she has always been a pleasure to work with and is very efficient. During the years, we have overcome my messy divorce; an event that led to obtaining (and maintaining) a DVPO; modifications; and numerous frivolous motions against me all of which we successfully countered and were granted reimbursement. Mr. Moffitt and Ms. Rogers have never wavered in their support or dedication in legal advocacy for me. I will continue to utilize their services and expertise, as I know that they are ethical and dedicated to working towards resolutions, prioritizing safety, and taking strategic courses of action to protect me and my children. I hired Jonathan Moffitt to represent me in a complicated divorce case after having a very poor experience with another attorney. My previous attorney didn't keep me informed and basically just filed paperwork and took my money. Considering the complexity of my case, I needed someone who was driven, communicated well and wasn't afraid to deal with ambiguity. I found Jonathan and Thank God I did! The divorce started in a foreign country in Africa where the laws are very different. I have 2 younger children, so custody issues had to be considered across both systems. Also, some of the financials and assets had already been split overseas while the rest needed to be considered in the US. And to top it off, the other party refused to be amicable about anything which added more stress to an already crazy situation. Jonathan dug right in and worked with my lawyer from overseas to understand the nuances of the cases there and how they translated to US laws. He provided good advice and support along the way and was open to hearing my ideas. He negotiated for my best interests at every turn and presented the facts and evidence in a strong and confident manner. I very highly recommend Jonathan if you're looking for someone to stand up and fight for you. His assistant, Dian was also amazing as she was quick to answer questions, process documentation and provide updates when Jonathan was busy.

Jonathan Moffitt was excellent representing me during my divorce. Jonathan did an excellent job preparing me for what was "typical" in Washington state and fought hard for me to get a fair and reasonable judgment. We tried everything to settle with the other party including mediation and when the other party just wouldn't be rational he didn't hesitate to be aggressive to get a fair deal. Rarely is anyone ever completely happy with the outcome of a divorce, but I feel the decision that the judge made after our divorce trial was fair, reasonable, and largely due to Jonathan's preparation, precision, and ability to stick to facts and not bring unnecessary emotion into the proceedings.

I ended up with an INCREDIBLE Parenting Plan! I am confident I would not have ended up with these results had I not hired Jonathan Moffitt. Jonathan knows what he is doing. He is confident and prepared in court. I have watched other attorneys stumble around (over what they are trying to communicate), or just come off unprofessional in some other way. This was never the case with Jonathan. While nobody wants to go to trial, I felt very prepared and almost enjoyed the experience as I watched Jonathan question and examine my child’s father and debunk the claims my child’s father tried to make. I sought Jonathan’s assistance for my parenting plan and child support case as I was unhappy with another attorney. With just over two months until my trial date, Jonathan picked up my case and took action immediately. I filed for support, but the order was thrown out and my prior attorney never suggested pursuing support before trial. Jonathan filed for and obtained a temporary support order for my child. My child’s father has not been a part of my two-year old child’s life, he moved over 450 miles away shortly after our child was born, and has issues with drugs and alcohol. Needless to say, when my child’s father filed for a parenting plan, I was terrified. My child’s father even made comments that he wanted no contact with our child, yet he continued to take legal action for a parenting plan. The final parenting plan I ended up with is due in part to “bad actions” taken by the father and lots of praying, but I am also very confident I would not have ended up with these results had I not hired Jonathan. My child’s father took a much lower paying job after our child was born, and although I did not receive support based on his prior wages, the final support order/payment was increased slightly for an imputed amount above what my child’s father’s recent pay stubs showed. Jonathan respected and understood that I felt the need to be more involved in my case than might be typical of a client because of the experience I had with a prior attorney. Jonathan was always willing to answer my questions about legal processes, expectations, outcomes, and alternatives. I should also note that Jonathan’s billing statements were well documented. The previous firm I worked with would forget to charge things and then they would show up in a later bill, which was very annoying–this never happened with Jonathan or his staff.

I put my life in their hands and I can't say thank you enough for all their hard work in making sure to protect our family now and in the future along with getting what I wanted for our case. Jonathan Moffitt did a tremendous job on my extremely complicated, long-winded case. He stayed professional the whole time of dealing with the case, very effective, with friendly and responsive staff. All in all, I started with an extremely disadvantageous situation and he turned my case all the way around and manage to obtain the best case scenario for me in my custody case. He listened to details and did a marvelous job concluding them all and representing me in the trial room, I recalled the judge commend him for his professionalism. Jonathan Moffitt is a talented family law attorney. He helped me with two cases (both modifications/child support issues that became quite complex) - one in 2016/2017 and one in 2019/2020. He is knowledgeable, honest, responsive and reassuringly calm during the process (which can be stressful). Mr Moffitt is very upfront about possible outcomes (even if it wasn't likely to be in my favor) so I was always prepared for what would be coming next and what our plan would be. He was highly skilled in dealing with opposing counsel and was well-prepared for hearings. I wish I had known about him when I went through my initial divorce proceedings; perhaps I wouldn't have needed to do the modifications because my case would have been handled differently/better from the beginning.
