Biography

Jason Benjamin has spent the past 22 years of his legal career (since 1995) immersing himself in the intricacies of family law and particularly child custody cases. He has personally handled more than 1000 cases where child custody is at issue.

He particularly welcomes families who have emergency custody, domestic violence or restraining order issues, as he can typically obtain appropriate orders within hours to protect you and the children.

From the beginning of his legal career, Jason has aggressively advocated on behalf of victims of domestic violence (even when domestic violence was not treated seriously by the courts). He understands the complexities of domestic violence such as why victims often return to abusers or leave their children with abusers before they make the final decision to permanently leave the abuser.

Jason utilizes his years of experience in the trenches of hard fought child custody trials to competently advise parties on the best route to tackle complicated and intertwined issues of mental health (particularly cluster b personality disorders such as histrionic, borderline, narcissistic and anti-social) and chemical dependency (particularly abuse of alcohol, opiates, methamphetamines and benzodiazepines).

When it comes to the courtroom, Jason is extremely comfortable and puts his clients at ease. There is no case too complex or too extreme for Jason to be willing to take it on. He is known by his colleagues for his confidence and persuasive argumentative skills and his trial experience is nothing short of prodigious. Many lawyers in the community are aware of his trial advocacy and often refer their clients to him for cases that are headed for trial.

Jason left Omak, Washington at 18 years of age and went off to the big city of Chicago where he attended Northwestern University. After obtaining his BA in Philosophy, he came back to Washington State and graduated from Seattle University School of Law in 1995. He and his wife have two daughters and enjoy various outdoor adventures.

So Grateful!

Our children were in their fathers care when an incident occurred and it was obvious that they were no longer safe in that environment. This was on a Wednesday, I only had until the following Wednesday before they would be back in that same situation due to our residential schedule at the time. I s...pent the next three days calling everyone and anyone I could find trying to seek counsel to help me keep my children safe. A google search led me to Envision family law. I called and was told that there wouldn’t be anyone available to consult until Monday afternoon. By the end of the weekend I was hopeless, discouraged and scared. But for some reason (divine intervention?) I filled out the contact form on the website. I didn’t expect that would come of it since I had already spoken to someone there. Almost immediately, I received a call from Jason Benjamin. This was on a Sunday afternoon! Jason listened while I frantically gave him the best synopsis that I could muster about the situation. He was able to secure a temporary protection order before the kids were due back that Wednesday. Throughout the many hearings and motions that followed, Jason has been dedicated and passionate about representing my case and. He’s patient with what I now call my “post hearing rants” and his knowledge of family law is top notch. His humor and empathy towards our situation has made this process so much less stressful and scary. I'd also like to give a big shoutout to Donna Anderson, Jason's paralegal. She has been a godsend with helping to organize a 5 year long case file highlighting what is relevant to each motion, when I was unable to articulate my argument in a concise way. Not only did she go above and beyond with the filings, she took the time to encourage and validate my doubts and fears. I am forever grateful to have such an amazing team in our corner. I would highly encourage anyone in this type of frightening situation to reach out to Envision Family Law, especially Jason Benjamin and Donna Anderson as they truly care and will fight tooth and nail.

Forever my go to!

I have hired Jason on multiple occasions to represent me over the past 8 years. My most recent case was supposed to be a simple child support modification filed with the state turned messy. I retained Mr. Benjamin to represent my children and I and get to the bottom of the discrepancies coming from t...he other party that the state did not seem to care about. No one has ever worked harder to get to the truth than Mr. Benjamin and his team. I received almost daily updates with every new discovery made within my case, phone calls from Mr. Benjamin personally to give me updates and to answer all my questions, and Melissa's accessibility and effectiveness is unmatched. Mr. Benjamin's passion and compassion come through in all aspects of his practice from consultations, depositions, hearings, and following up. He is calm, diligent, and the best lawyer I've every worked with. Every item that I needed addressed was handled and taken care of from start to finish and in a favorable manor. I am so glad that I had Mr. Benjamin on my side for this most recent case as well as my previous cases. I would rehire and recommend Mr. Benjamin to anyone that needed a family law attorney.

Bulldog

Jason is a bulldog. I went to him after being laughed out of several lawyers offices and told I had no shot at equal custody of my daughter because my ex was making false accusations of domestic violence. Even the previous attorney I had hired had told me that I would never gain equal custody and I j...ust needed to bend over and take whatever my ex-wife decided to give me (because I had poked the 'mama bear' by asking for equal time). But Jason said he believed I had a good case for 50/50 custody and then he won it for me. He was calm, confident, smart, and persuasive in trial and was able to get my ex-wife to admit she was lying while she was on the stand. Throughout the case he was calm and kept me calm and realistic. I do have to say that the other reviewers who are saying he is hard to get hold of are correct, but even with that fault I would hire him again in a heart-beat and will with any future issues.

The best attorney!

I need to begin by saying he is excellent because he only had to read about my case and contacted ME to help, not the other way around. My divorce/custody battle was one of the ugliest because my ex absolutely refused to be cooperative. Jason helped me keep my cool while the other party chose to figh...t dirty. He is extremely knowledgeable in the courtroom and how to keep his clients positive. To say he fought long and hard, would be an understatement. I always felt confident going into the courtroom with him because he is a natural. He dug deeply into my case, applied different strategies when it seemed another just wasn't going to work. He is aggressive when necessary, which is exactly what you need going against someone who wants to fight about EVERYTHING. He helped me get through what I thought was going to be never ending, but also got me the best possible outcome. Not only does he answer the questions you have, but checks in regularly to see how things are going and if anything has changed. My case didn't end up going to trial, thank god, but at the same time, just watching him in our never ending hearings I would have been absolutely confident in it turning out in my favor. If you need an aggressive, professional, available attorney then hire him. He was the best attorney I could have found, or in my case found me. Hire him!

Outstanding Job!

Jason Benjamin and his paralegals really saved me from the sinking ship that was my case. The attorney that I had hired at the beginning of my court proceedings against the father of my child, didnt argue my case at all, and it kept seeming more clear that he was causing actual damage to the progress... of my case. It was a relocation/child support/parenting plan case, so a bit of everything. My child had sustained some traumatic injuries under the care of his father, and my old attorney would fail to mention it to the judge even while im standing next to him, nudging him with my elbow, begging him to bring up my sons injuries. My babys fathers attorney was tough, and kept putting the breaks on everything, throwing monkey wrenches into the works, and my old attorney would go for it, and send me home to write one meaningless deposition after the other. I was becoming depressed and almost felt hopeless before I hired Jason, but he quickly made me feel so confident and comfortable. Jason and his office really argued for me. They obviously really cared about our (my son and myself) wellbeing. Their whole office was friendly and If there was a surprise monkey wrench thrown in the mix during court, Jason would march us down to the law library and he'd work hard, right there, to combat whatever funny business the other side would try. Both Jason and his office are very good at getting back to any emails or phone calls. The kept telling me that I'm in the driver's seat, and with them I really felt like I always was. They really listened to everything, it was more like having that big scary best friend that comes to your rescue when things get hairy. I will always go back to Jason with any issues I have in the future with my case, and I highly recommend him to anyone. Im so thankful for them, and all the hard work they put in for my family. I wouldve lost my case for sure if I wouldve stayed with my first attorney, but Jason really turned everything around for us. We ended up winning on all fronts. Getting everything we asked for. I honestly couldnt thank them enough. Family court is stressful but I could honestly say, that Jason and his paralegal Jess really took that stress away. I felt safe knowing they were backing me up. I felt brave, comfortable, and confident in court every single time. They really did a fantastic job! Hire Jason if you want to win your case!
