I had the pleasure to work with Heather and her team for over a year as we slogged through the myriad details of my 24 year marriage, separation and ultimate divorce. First and foremost Heather is a listener. She pays thoughtful attention to what you have to say. By that I mean, should you begin to digress or stray from the subject at hand, she has the ability to tactfully bring you back on point so as not to waste your investment in her time. This means, again from my point of view, that when you approach Heather for representation, “have your ducks in a row.” Meaning, that if you want to keep costs to a minimum and have the greatest possibility for a positive outcome in your case, be proactive. When you show up for your initial consultation, first, and foremost, try to have your emotions in check. This will not only save time but in turn allow for insightful discussion of the facts. Next, have with you, your estimate of assets and liabilities along with a basic idea of the outcome you wish to see in your case. Finally, Heather will explain in depth and in understandable language, the facts of your case, possible strategies and anticipated outcome. She will take whatever time it takes to make sure you understand the ramifications, both legal and personal, of any decision you may make. Even if she does not fully agree with your decision after you have been explained the pros and cons, she will, relentlessly fight to get the best outcome possible for you in light of the informed decision you have made. This attorney will never contact you unless she truly has something to communicate. Again, keeping costs down. Heather is an amazing attorney!!!! She took over my divorce (custody, child support) case with only a couple of weeks to review before the 1st hearing. At every hearing/meeting, I felt completely secure in her skills (it was very interesting to just sit back and watch her do her thing). My ex used the legal system & various government services (filed motions just to file them, petitioned for a protection order against me, filed a CPS report) to harass me throughout the entire process and Heather helped me remain calm and handled every situation as it came with professionalism, tack and he utmost skill. I came to Heather because my Mother actually used her at the same time for her divorce. Originaly I had chosen to use a different lawyer but went through three before I decided to try Heather. She not only contacted me and always had some one to answer my questions (the most amazing assistant, Kim Parsons!!!!) but she helped put all my fears to rest by telling me the truth of everything and having a plan of action for whatever type of outcome there could be. Heather handled my custody case in 2004. She was amazing to work with. She's well respected and easy to talk to. I felt like I was in good hands with Heather. Her assistant Kim was always avaliable for questions. My ex's attorney was an awful, sneaky, slime bag and Heather was organised and to the point. The judge seem to hold her in high regard. She also covered me with a lot of provisions that I wouldn't have thought about. Considering that our case was drug out by my ex and his attorney her fees were completely reasonable! In 2006 my ex took me to court for contempt. It was a stupid charge and Heather got it dismissed and he was charged with my attorney fees for waisting court time. It was nice to have an attorney that knows the law and wins her cases. I also called in the last month to check on another issue. She's always helpful! I hired Heather to handle my divorce. I thought she handled it great, she kept me from making any rash decisions, and kept me fully informed of any dates or papers that I needed to sign. When I could not get a hold of her she made sure her assistant took care of me. Heather was always very profesional and very confident, she always came to court prepared and with a smile. I hired Heather Bliss as my attorney and worked with her for the last two years on a variety of post-divorce issues (child support modification, issues surrounding my child's safety and well-being, and other misc. issues regarding the mistakes I made when I handled my original divorce pro-se.)
