Kathryn B Abele

Kathryn represented me and most importantly my son for continued child support. It was a very nasty divorce and horribly contested case by my ex. Kathryn is so very knowledgeable about the law and what needs to be done. She is incredibly quick thinking and well prepared in the court room. She kno...ws what she's doing, she communicates effectively with her client and does her very best to keep the bill reasonable. Her office staff is also excellent. And she wins.

I hired Kathryn to help me deal with custody issues that turned very ugly. My ex is one of those high conflict individuals that creates conflict where none exists. He may even qualify as having a PD (personality disorder) like BPD or NPD (as described in the book "Splitting" by Bill Eddy & Randi... Kreger). As soon as I began seeing someone new my son's father went crazy and began making accusations of child abuse against my new partner and trying to make my life miserable. Kathryn was there to help me even during the off hours when an incident would happen and I did not know how to respond. There were several instances in which I had to contact her early on a Saturday morning and she was always there for me. I always felt bad for bothering her but she never made me feel like it was an issue. I could tell that she cared and just wanted to help. To me, this is going above and beyond your duty as an attorney. Additionally, she always kept me in the loop and informed about what was going on and gave "me" the option to decide what to do and the possible consequences of each option instead of just deciding for me. Kathryn also knew that I was on a budget and worked hard to try and save money for me where she was able to. This was extremely helpful for me. Recently Kathryn had to withdraw from assisting me with my case and this was very upsetting because I really like her and I feel that she cared. She explained to me a personal situation in which a police officer tripped her at the courthouse. I couldn't believe it! When she filed a grievance they claimed that she was lying. I know that she would never do this because I have experienced her as a very fair and just individual and it is sad that the system is so messed up. As a result she has been temporarily barred from practicing law and can no longer assist me. I would like future clients to know that this was at no fault of hers and does not in any way reflect on her performance as an attorney. Unfortunately, from what I have learned through this whole process is that the legal system is very flawed. Kathryn is great and I would recommend her to anyone!

Ms Abele was been involved in my case for nearly 2 1/2yrs. She handled all matters of the case well in my opinion. She explained the laws and codes to me and advised me on why something should or shouldn't be done. I trusted her council and feel that my involvement in the family court system was b...etter then if I tried to go through alone. My observations of the interactions between her and her opposing councils was that she was respected by them. She would respond promptly to any messages left, and was very through in her work. And while I will or would gladly use Ms Abele for any future legal representation, it's my hope that I wont have to.

Ms. Abele handled our case very sloppily and we did not feel that she effectively represented our interests in court. I would never fault any lawyer for at least trying, but we are very disappointed at the lack of professionalism with which our case was handled.
