He was also awarded the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award from the University of Oregon School of law for his success in his first 10 years of practice. David is the only lawyer in the State to be named one of the top 25 lawyers under the age of 40 for the three years the Daily Journal of Commerce ranked the 5,000 lawyers in the State of Oregon. In 2010, David attended the National Advocacy Center jury selection training for lawyers that tried over 50 jury trials and received the top score from this national trial college and an invitation to return as an instructor.
He has also been a featured guest lecturer on trial skills and cross-examination of expert witnesses at Lewis and Clark School of Law and the University of Oregon School of Law.

David grauted from the University of Oregon School of Law and was the school's mock trial and negotiation moot court competion winner. David has served as the Chair of the Oregon New Lawyers Division and spearheaded a project to help underemployed or unemployed lawyers receive practical skill building job opportunities. This program was named the National Outstanding Young Lawyer Project for the entire country by the American Bar Association in 2010.
