Never a prosecutor and always for the defense, Mr. Young relishes the challenge of fighting for the underdog and winning difficult cases while getting excellent results for clients.
Born and raised in the bay area, Mr. Young went to college at UCLA. He returned to the bay area for law school with a keen interest in criminal law. Mr. Young was a certified law clerk at the San Francisco Public Defender's and Alameda County Public Defender's offices, before graduating and becoming a deputy public defender in Merced County. At the public defender's office, he learned the tools of the trade by being aggressive and winning motions and trials. At his conclusion of three years in Merced, he was awarded a trophy for outstanding advocacy.
One of Mr. Young's favorite cases involved a client that was on a motorcycle going over 100 mph in a residential street while being chased by a police officer with lights and sirens. The entire chase was captured on film. The prosecution thought it was a slam dunk, until the officer was cross-examined. The officer admitted to changing a verbatim statement he previously said under oath. This resulted in a hung jury on a felony evasion charge and an acquittal on a felony drug charge. The judge said Mr. Young did an amazing job to win an "unwinnable" case.
Mr. Young then joined a private criminal defense firm in the bay area. He is familiar with every courthouse achieving fantastic results from all counites in the bay area: Sonoma, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Contra Costa, Alameda, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey counties.
When not defending the accused, Mr. Young relaxes by playing the guitar, reading books on poker, philosophy and theology, playing basketball and rooting for my favorite sports teams. Go Warriors, Niners, Giants and last but not least the UCLA Briuns!
