Excellent Defense Attorney

Ed Welbourn was an amazing attorney. He has a wide network in the the Judicial System and new exactly what he was doing and gave me the best possible outcome of my felony case. I thought I was going to be in big trouble but since he used to be a District attorney he used his experience and networks t...o get me a deal that I wanted. He's the best of the best and I'm glad he was my lawyer.

Human First, Professional Throughout

Ed Wellbourn saved our son -- and our family. For four years he has helped prepare a meticulous case to defend our 23-year-old son against two felonies and associated lesser charges that would have put him in California State Prison for 21 years. Understandably we all were distraught and confused.... Mr. Welbourne took the time to approach our case from a human perspective, whilst always highly professional. He gave us hope that things would get better, and during the difficult court case he provided us faith in the judicial system that things WERE going to get better. Our son was found Not Guilt on all ten charges, by unanimous verdict of a jury that deliberated just 22 minutes. Trust Ed Wellbourne and his entire team to give their complete and honest attention to every detail and how to best present the information in a way easy for everyone to understand.

My Misdemeanor Case!

Ed Welbourn is the sixth attorney I hired in January of 2016 to assist me to deal with my misdemeanor case that has been suffocating my life to the limit for being on a "Formal Probation". I had to deal with five (5) previous uncaring and incompetent attorneys that I fired. When I met Ed in his of...fice, he looked at my case through internet on his cell and within 30 minutes he discovered the mistake my previous attorney had made. He confirmed his discovery with another senior attorney in his office and I never forget our conversation for rest of my life and I quote" He said what is your wish?". Naturally, I responded by saying, "I would like to get off this 'Formal Probation"!. Honestly, , I was not sure this is another empty promise by another attorney similar to previous five (5) attorneys I had, but he actually showed me his law book that spelled out maximum penalty for my misdemeanor offense. However, my gut feeling was telling me this attorney may be different than all previous attorneys I had. So, I felt comfortable to give him my blessing to move forward with it. The following week, after he spoke to judge about the flaw in my case, we appeared in court and subject judge ruled my "Formal probation" which had 2.50 years remaining will be terminated on March 7, 2016. I can not describe how relieved and elated I am. After, all the pains and traumas I endured in the past 1.50 year which by far were toughest time of my life, courtesy of probation department, it feels like surreal. I wondered whether this was really happening. I will be a free man and can live a normal life which probation deprived me of. Now, I have great appreciation for simplest thing in life we always take for granted. I know one thing for certain. My freedom wouldn't have been possible without My attorney, Ed Welbourn's intelligence and follow through. As I told him several time, I am indebted to him for rest of my life. I mean this from bottom of my heart. Ed Welbourn is a breath of fresh air in a legal system that is filled with attorneys that are mostly concerned about their bank account balance than welfare of their clients. I will highly recommend Ed Welbourn to anyone who may have need for legal assistant.

Consummate Professional Lawyer

I went, almost literally, from jail to the offices of Corrigan, Welbourn & Stokke. After my arrest, my world changed entirely. If you are reading this review, you already understand the confusion and the fear that color the entire experience of a legal conflict. From the moment my family and I met Al... Stokke, we felt better able to face the situation. The year-and-a-half that followed, during which time Ed Welbourn took the lead in managing my case, provided a stunningly enlightening experience. My ignorance of the law left me with very few tools for facing the charges against me, but thanks to Ed, Al, and Kate Corrigan, I never felt alone in that struggle. Ed Welbourn is a gladiator. He’s smart, savvy, and incredibly capable. In my experience, he understands both offense and defense well enough to make the right call about when to use each—and when to just sit quietly and wait. Ed provided guidance and counsel when I needed them, and he did so with what has always proven to be a genuine honesty. He is a model of professionalism, and I am thankful that he oversaw my case. Al and Kate were invaluable supports as well—and I will never forget either the competent experience Al brought to our first and our last meeting at CWS or the tough cleverness that characterized every interaction I ever saw Kate have in court—but Ed saw my wife and I through some of the hardest moments in our lives. If you hire Ed, don’t expect an ambulance chaser. Ed isn’t a TV lawyer; he’s the real thing. He never once did anything surprising, because he always acted according to a well thought-out strategy that he had taken time to consider and to share with us and with the team in his office. There were no plot twists in my case, and that’s just how I would have wanted it. My arrest was plot twist enough. Ed’s determined, careful, predictable support was what I needed to come through. I’m glad I had it; I’m glad I still have it.

Like no other.

I was referred to Ed Welbourn by my brother. Ed had helped my brother in his case several year prior in a case in which Ed was able to get the charges against him dismissed and also secured a settlement within my brother's favor. After hearing about Ed and his experience, I knew he was the right guy ...and the only guy I would consider to represent me in my case. With his experience as a former DA for Orange County, the county of my case, Ed understood the processes and procedures better than anyone. This worked in my favor because I got the best advice and representation from a person that knew both sides. He was there with me at my court hearings and I felt fully confident with him by my side every step of the way. Ed was able to get my original felony charge dropped and I pleaded to a lesser misdemeanor charge with a unsupervised probation period. Also, once my probation period is over, the DA will dismiss my misdemeanor charge as well. Even though I was confident in my case if we were to go to trial, in the end this was the best option because a trail can be very draining, mentally, physically and financially. Ed did a great job at getting me the best result that would allow me to quickly move on from my situation and move on with my life. I would highly recommend Ed Welbourn to anyone! Thank you and your wonderful team again! I am truly grateful! CB

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
