A couple of days before Christmas 2017, I was involved in a bad car wreck. Sadly, I had just come from a party, where I had a few drinks. When police had arrived onto the scene, the sheriff had smelled alcohol on my breath while he was questioning me about how the accident had happened. I was take...n to the hospital for my injuries, and forced to submit a blood sample. The sample had showed that by BAC level was .19, and I ended up being hit with a DUI with injury. He continued to work on my case, and was able to interview others involved in the car wreck, prior to my preliminary hearing. On the day of my preliminary hearing, prior to stepping in front of the judge, Michael told me that he was still fighting to get me a better deal. A short time before my case was ready to be called to the front of the courtroom, we learned that new information was relayed, and that there had been a change to my plea deal. My new deal dropped my 4 years in prison to only a couple of days in jail, and my felony to a misdemeanor. I can’t say how thankful my wife and I are for Michael, Robert, and Tony from Kraut Law Group. Those three gentlemen worked hard on my case for as long as they possibly could, and saved me from years of confinement, a felony record, and the loss of my job. In August of 2018 I was involved in a domestic violence incident and FALSLEY accused of holding an elderly family member at knifepoint. Despite the fact that I never did this, I was arrested and charged with two felonies: elder abuse and assault with a deadly weapon. As I’ve NEVER been in trouble wi...th the law before, after being bailed out of jail, I stupidly hired the first attorney I was referred to. Huge mistake. After several court appearances, this attorney not only wasn’t doing anything for me but was leading me straight into a trial and/or a conviction of both felonies. So I sat down and did some real research and after thoroughly reading about several criminal defense attorneys, I called Michael Kraut. He read countless long emails I wrote him, and while his responses to my concerns were short, he always answered me extremely quickly and acknowledged my concerns. He met with me in his office to address my concerns of potential judicial and prosecutorial bias. During the hearing with my doctor he objected repeatedly as the prosecution stated complete, unproven falsehoods about me and demanded to break doctor-patient confidentiality. He assertively requested repeatedly that after months of being kept out of my home due to a court-ordered restraining order, the judge lift the restraining order. Although I was not granted a mental health diversion, I feel extremely lucky Michael Kraut was my attorney because both the judge and the prosecutor honestly seemed to want me to spend 4 years in state prison or at the very least I was going to end up with two felonies which would ruin my life. After only 3 court appearances, Mr. Kraut finally convinced the judge to lift the restraining order, and let me go home after spending 5 months in hotels and at people’s houses, and the very best part is that Mr. Kraut got me a great plea deal with only ONE misdemeanor for elder abuse (which eventually will be expunged from my record) and three years’ probation. Considering the prosecution wanted a much, much harsher sentence for me, and I have NEVER had anything more than a traffic ticket before this, I feel LUCKY BEYOND BELIEF that I received such a great deal. Michael Kraut will fight for you and not back down. He’s a brilliant man and is a man of integrity and honesty. Yes he’s often blunt, his emails are short, but he does care about you as a person. He made it clear to me he cared very much what happened to me. He is a man with a warm, caring heart.
