3rd DUI / Probation Violation - Santa Clarita Courthouse
Facing a Third DUI charge, I came across Takakjian & Sitkoff online and called immediately. My first point of contact was with Senior Case Analyst, James Kim, who was incredibly helpful and actually made me feel much calmer about the situation I was facing, even over the phone. We scheduled a consultation the next day, and I was sold. I was still on probation for my 2nd DUI a few years earlier, and with a high BAC (0.32) and a crash involved, I was rightfully not optimistic about the results I would receive. I made it clear that I was not expecting a dismissal or dropped case, or even to go to trial, but just wanted to diminish the consequences, or as Kim stated, "soften the landing." Their primary method to achieve this goal was to humanize me to the DA's office, and we worked together to compile something of a life resume that was able to make the DA's office see me as an individual, rather than a case number. Paul made sure that I was aware of everything that would happen at the arraignment so that I was prepared, and every step of the way, I could text with a question and receive an informed, thorough response within a prompt period of time. I was facing a minimum sentence of 120 days in County jail, with a maximum sentence that could have reached a year. Knowing that this wasn't an option for me, Paul and his team went to bat for me in and outside of the courtroom, turning to every resource he had collected over his vast and highly decorated career in criminal law. The result was an incredible plea deal of 30 days in County in exchange for a 30 month DUI class. Paul aimed the sentencing toward my recovery instead of simple, crass punishment. At sentencing, we rolled my fine into the jail time, making it 34 days in County, of which I served probably 16 hours. I now sit with that sentence as well as the several thousand dollar fine behind me from a court considered to be "very conservative" (which means harsh). Thanks to Paul and his methodological approach to my case, I was able to keep my job and continue to move forward with my life, despite my egregious mistake. If I had given Paul anything more to work with, I know he would have produced an even more positive result, but Paul knew exactly what he could do for me and flawlessly executed it. Trust me, when you're standing in court, expecting the world to crush you and your life to change forever for the worse, it's indescribably relieving to have such a well-respected and practiced defense attorney as Paul Takakjian there next to you. His team promises to get you your best possible result because they are more than capable of producing it. Hiring Paul is your best chance at safely putting whatever legal situation you're in behind you.

Excellent attorney, very helpful
I had gotten a DUI and I sought out Mr. Takakjian to represent me. His firm helped me throughout the process step by step, and was available whenever I needed advice regarding my sentencing. The firm continues to help and advise me. I cannot recommend Mr. Takakjian enough, I highly recommend him and the firm.

DUI and domestic violence case
They did an excellent job in representing me in both my DUI and domestic violence cases. I'm a teacher so I needed it taken care of quickly and not showing on my record if I applied at different teaching opportunities in the future. My DV, did not even end up being charged against me, so I only had the arrest but no official charges showing on my record.

Personal attention from the attorneys at Takakjian & Sitkoff goes above and beyond the call of duty
My young adult child required defending in a criminal matter in CA. However I and the rest of the family live out of state. From my first online contact with the firm of Takakjian & Sitkoff I received information and help. The phone number I was given lead me to junior consulting attorney Sergio. He listened and before long realized I might not have all the information. He told me he would clarify charges with the courts and call me right back. I was pleasantly surprised to receive his call within a few minutes with all details clarified. Sergio then recommended that a senior consulting attorney should handle this case. From the beginning, Attorney James N. Kim listened, provided explanations of charges and laws and possibilities for the outcome of the case. Though as a parent I asked him to keep me informed, I also wanted my adult child's confidentiality to be respected. And it was. I know Attorney Kim established an excellent rapport and communicated what was happening. Mr. Kim's grasp of the entire situation was unusual and his professional level of competence outstanding. He devoted an exceptional amount of time to both his client while lending support to this family member. He made himself available by phone, email and text. The outcome of this case was also exceptional. It gave my adult child a second chance. I do not know where one could possibly find a superior law firm and I am grateful for their service.

Incredible
I was wrongly accused of a very serious crime. I luckly found Paul and James. There were able to obtain a best case scenario outcome in a very short amount of time. I am so thankful for their knowledge and professionalism. I would recommend their services to anyone. Thank you!

Highly Recommended!
From the day that I met Paul in regards to my case he was extraordinarily helpful, insightful, and supportive. He, and his partners, outlined everything there was to know, from what to do next (and what not to do) to what to expect from a timing and process perspective. Unfortunately my need to use Paul's services came as a result of a devastating incident that had me in disbelief of what reality really was. Paul took the time to make sure that all questions were answered and that all expectations were properly set. Paul was extremely proactive through every step of the process and kept me well informed of where we were at with the investigation and then the case itself. Would highly recommend Paul for his knowledge in this arena as well as his utmost professionalism that he provides.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Reading the review below saddens me in the fact that people at times fail to communicate properly with their attorney and yet hide behind the anonymity of the Internet to bash someone freely when outcomes aren't favorable due to elements outside the attorney’s control. I must say the review below truly contradicts the experience I’ve had with Paul and his team. I would say I am truly privileged to have Paul Takakjian represent me in my current case. Paul’s professionalism, work ethic, integrity, and honesty are just but a few of the reasons I feel confident that I ’m very well represented when I appear in court. It’s these reasons listed that Paul is so respected in the court room from the Judge to his adversaries. My personal experience has been amazing from the very first call to Paul’s team hearing my case to meeting Paul personally in his office to develop a strong defense. They had the compassion and sensitivity towards my needs and most importantly took the time to listen to every detail regarding the case. Paul truly cares about his clients and is passionate about what he does. I have never felt like “Just another client” with Paul. At times I've wondered myself how he does it, with every email, phone call, text returned the same day or if not at least in a timely manner. Paul’s attention to detail is outstanding, remembering and documenting items that play a key role in future court appearances. I have been what one would call the victim of an overzealous DA and a detective that has deliberately turned a blind eye to the truth. This having been a well publicized case it has not been the easiest case to represent as I'm sure. This has not stopped Paul and his team to vigorously investigate and produce results exposing the dim tactics used by the opposition in a not so fair playing field at times. If it weren't for Paul Takakjian I can assure you I would not be able to write this review today as the prosecution would have done as they wish with my freedom. Now we are at the breaking point and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel thanks to Paul and his team. An Excellent rating is not enough to describe Paul, more like “ Extraordinary”. I would encourage anyone in need of a Criminal Defense Attorney to contact Paul Takakjian, I wouldn't trust my life with anyone else.

He only employs his passion .......
I've had the opportunity to work with a team so caring and passionate about their jobs. My first interaction was with Paul's legal assistant Sergio Q. I was referred to other lawyers but after countless phone calls, i was always drawn to this firm. My circumstances weren't so good and i realized the consequences of my actions although what was legally written and just the perception of it isn't what it seemed. Sergio took the time to talk to me and reassurred my fears. I have an 18month old daughter who depends on me financially, for security and for love. Sergio answered all my questions, reassured me and kept his promise. The day of my court date, Paul took the time out of his busy schedule to talk to me. And that made me more comfortable and more thankful how lucky i was to be treated not like just another case, but just as a person they truely wanted to help. I work for a corporate company and collaborate with lawyers all the time and I've encountered lawyers that made you think twice about what their intentions are for being in the field. With that mindset, my worst fear kicked it. I needed someone who would take the time to understand my situation and that is what sergio did. And to know that paul took the time made it even better. Being a single mom, i was worried about finances but they worked with me on that and i can not express how thankful i am. After this experience, it made me really think about alot of things going forward, and to those seeking the best lawyer - i highly recommend this firm especially Paul and Sergio.

Paul Takakjian
I have worked in law enforcement for more then 20 years. For 3 years I was assigned to Court Services Bureau for the largest Sheriff’s Department in the United States. This basically means I was assigned to various courtrooms as a Bailiff. As a member of a Superior Court staff, I have dealt with many attorneys and law firms. I do not believe you will find a more caring, compassionate, educated, experienced or professional attorney than Mr. Paul Takakjian or his law firm Takakjain, Sowers and Sitkoff. After more then 2 decades in law enforcement, you can bet I did my research prior to seeking his assistance. I can assure you that I was not disappointed. He definitely lives up to the reputation which precedes him.

Falsely Accused of Physical Assault of Peace Officer, Obstruction of Duties and Disorderly Conduct
I was in need of an attorney concerning false allegations by three (3) of my city police officers. I was lucky enough that I chose Mr. Takakjian as my lawyer to represent me in this matter. Mr. Takakjian, listened to my statements of the facts, and contacted every witness that I provided him. He also made sure the District Attorney and the City Police knew that he was not going to let their false allegations stand up in court and convict someone that in no way warranted their documented lies that three officers wrote on the police reports. Mr. Takakjian, was in constant communication with me concerning my case by e-mails, phone calls and greeted me personaly at each court date to explain where my case stood my options. He let me know that he believed in my case, and that he would do his upmost to make sure the officers would not get away with their lies. Again at every one of my court dates he made it very, very clear to the court and DA that he was there to fight on my behalf. I could make this a long drawn out review, however I will not, and just say that if anyone is in need of a Criminal Defense Attorney, I just hope they would at least contact Paul Takakjian for consultation. I would just like to say, that I learned first hand that sometimes bad and unjust events happen in ones life, and our Criminal Justice System does not always get all the facts or the true facts and administer decisions by what is on a police report. Innocent people sometime do get accused in our court system. Mr. Takakjian, was there to represent me and challenge the reports and DA's case against me. In conclusion, all of the false charges were dismissed, no fines or court fees. And to this day, I know this outcome was only possible, by me having an attorney that belived in me and showed he was willing to fight in my behalf. I think Mr. Takakjian is exactly who you want if you are ever in need of this form of legal repersentation.

Do Your Research Very Thoroughly Before You Hire Anyone, Especially an Atty who is taught to win the confidence of his clients!!
After reading about Paul Takakjian and the firm in the January 2018 DJDAR Legal newspaper and about his prior back ground in the DA's office I just knew that this was the guy that I wanted to hire. So on August 14, 2018 I took some of my critical court papers into his office without an appointment at about 4:40pm and was given a intake two page form to fill out. Another female attorney whom had given me the form had stated that she was not the receptionist but would give my paper to him once I had finish. But, prior to me finishing the form Mr. Takakjian had came out in believing that I was another client but upon me stating my name he had stated that he just did not take walk-in's. Although I was wearing my ADA Disability vest I did immediately tell Paul that I was willing to pay for his time to speak with me after we had already semi-engaged in some very small talk for about seven (7) minutes on why I was there and what surrounded the background issues of my case. Mr. Takakjian then stated that he would prefer if I would first talk to his Senior Case Analyst Mr. James Kim and set up an appointment with him & come back into the office to give him the details and that James would let him know what the facts are. So, I immediately called Mr. Kim @ (818) 519-6883 that very same day downstairs in the car. On August 15th, 2018 Mr. Kim did call me back and had set up a 10am appointment for me to come in the very next day of August 16, 2018 but after twenty minutes of conversation he felt that it would be best if Paul was to be there at the meeting and that he would get back with me. On August 21st, 2018 & after five (5) days of no call back I then called Mr. Kim back and left him a message that I was still waiting for a new Appt date & time then leaving my name & my call back number again. When August 23rd, 2018 had came I had then called Mr. Kim back again but I kept on getting his voicemail, So I called the main office line (310) 312-8055 and had ask the receptionist for Paul and I had also explained my ordeal. At that point she had stated that she was on the phone with Mr. Kim and for me to recall him back as she was about to hang up with him, So I followed her advice. But, after five (5) attempts between 1:30pm and 1:40pm and all I was getting was a voicemail recording I then waited til 4:30pm before I had called the Law Office back on the main number and this time I had left a detailed message with Paul on the events since my last face to face conversation with him in doing what he had asked of me to do. It is now been two (2) weeks and I believe that I have been blown off because I did not have any open new pending charges that would have been a major cash cow for this attorneys time although his background from the DA's office was within his experience for what I had came to him for as he had stated in the DJDAR Newspaper during his interview I was giving the "Don't return my call treatment" probably because I was wearing my Yellow Vest and I didn't come in wearing a suit. Mis-Judging a book by the cover just as Oprah Winfrey was denied to shop in a store one time and the sale lady didn't know who she was and got fired after the store owner came on her TV Show and Apologized for what had happen, that did not get Oprah's money back in after that. My point is this: Had I read all of the reviews about this guy on here & seen the other negative comments I would have reserved my belief in his capabilities to take on my matter, especially when the person you are going to be paying can't sit down with you directly and make a determination on the merits of your case or see if his case load is jammed packed that he should at the least be able to refer you to another attorney after being in the business for over thirty-eight yrs. I am not saying that Mr. Takakjian is not good because I never lost any $$$ to have found out otherwise but I was not treated with a welcome mat @ all. Maybe a can place a review on YELP too!

Completely dropped the ball
At first I thought he was a top notch attorney...but after he did not file my petition in the proper venue (as stated by DOJ) and missed the deadline to correct it....I lost my property to the government! I feel that I was seriously wronged on that issue. Not only did he charge an extremely large sum over $25,000 for a possession case but he also has not followed through in helping me close the matter. He does not return my emails and my case is still hanging in the gray area of an out-of-county transfer. I have completed all requirements but almost a year later nothing has been done to get the case closed. I would never recommend him.

Response from Paul Takakjian January 13, 2014
We have determined that this is a fake and fraudulent review posted by someone who is not a client of our firm, and who has never been a client of our firm. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Poor Service
Mr. Takakjian failed to perform a service, and did not respond to SS Administration regarding my case (according SS Admnistration written statement) but took $1,500.
Response from Paul Takakjian December 3, 2012
This client retained our firm merely to investigate the possibility of contesting an unfavorable benefits decision made by the Social Security Administration. We worked on the client's matter from June 11 to October 1, gathering facts and preparing to file an appeal. We met with the client and his family on September 14 and explained their options to them concerning the appeal. The client advised that he wanted to think about the case and consider his options, but never contacted us again after September 14. If the client was unsatisfied with the work done on his behalf, it's unfortunate that he never contacted us with a question or a request for us to proceed with an appeal.
