Not only an excellent IP attorney but also a businessman

I like working with Phil - he is knowledgeable about trademarks and patents and he knew our area of technology, which was especially important in the patent-writing process. Even better, he is a businessman - he understands our needs from a business point of view. I have met patent attorneys who were... altogether too academic and ivory-tower, with no understanding of real-world needs. I like that Phil does a thorough patent search and he takes into account what is already out there. Some patent attorneys do not do that, and simply let the patent office come up with objections. They have reasons for this - but I disagree with them. I want our patent attorney to frame our patent with full cognizance of the territory. Otherwise it can be a waste of time and money, and real opportunities can be missed.

Why I like Phil

Very few patent attorneys have the experience or the exact eduction of the inventor. The invention by definition is on the leading edge of the technology in the specific field of the invention. I once invented a method of programming micro computers. The patent attorney I picked at random knew a...bsolutely nothing about computers or computer programing. I spent more time educating my patent attorney than the time it would have taken me to learn how to write a patent. The result was a bad patent. A large company made tens of millions of dollars by violating my patent. Bottom line I eventually won the law suite but it took years. I think with a better patent it would not have taken so long. Recently I invented a new ignition system for internal combustion engines. This time I looked for a patent attorney that was ostensible familiar with electronics. I found a young one that claimed a degree in electrical engineering. Obviously he graduated engineering school and went right into law school. Same problem. He asked a lot of dumb questions about basic electronics that he should have known. I was spending time educating a patent attorney again. I got fed up and fired him. Then I found Phil Varga. He immoderately understood my patent and the value of it. He had the patent done in a week and filed. I was amazed. Phil had years of practical experience in electronics as a technician, engine electrical patents. I highly recommend him. Paul

22 years of experience in patent prosecution and it shows when it matters

Phil work with us on three filings, two of which have already been allowed in less than four months in an accelerated program. One of the patents required strategy expertise in communication with the examiner for the allowable matter and Phil's recommendation was exactly on target to get the paten...t allowed. One can not be grateful enough for these instances. A great person outside of the service as well, Phil helped us with networking for what he thought may be valuable to our business relationships. Glad I met Phil and look forward to continue our work together.

Philip Thomas is the best. Professional, personal and looks after your specific desires, wants and needs. He is the most amiable person that I have met to take a project from start to finish. He advises you as well as represents you. 5 stars if 5 stars is the Max. 6 stars if we can go over that.
