Phil is thorough, cordial, and cares about his clients. He has an excellent grasp of the law surrounding DUIs. He studied my case and conditions closely, and found that there was a potential error in the arresting officer's conduct. Phil helped me with a convoluted dui case recently. He was comforting but also realistic to the situation at hand. I hired Phil through a recommendation of a friend who is also a lawyer. He was able to get my DUI reduced to a DWI so I do not have a DUI on my record anymore. Thank you Phil for seeing this through to the end! A couple of things I will contribute to this review is the lack of communication between Phil and I. There were times that I didn't hear back from him for days after reaching out and sometime I had to call his office to track him down. I eventually shared my frustration with Phil and he acknowledged that he wasn't communicating in timely manner with me and that he would improve on this. Phil definitely made the initiative to have better communication with me and in the end we got done what he said we would do. My recommendation to anyone who chooses Phil is to go over communication expectations. His contract states that you must answer his phone calls immediately when he calls you. I would ask him to, at the very least, make the initiative to respond within 24 hours of you reaching out or have his assistant reach out. Outside of the communication issues I had, Phil was still great and he excels in his field. The fact that he was willing to listen to my frustration and act upon fixing the issue, shows professional growth and a genuine care for his clients...Thanks again Phil! Hopefully I never need to hire you again, but if it ever came up, I would do it without hesitation.

I was a client of Phil’s five years ago, and recently I got a job that required some in-depth paperwork regarding my former case that I did not have on file. So I reached out to Phil. I got a DUI in June of 2018 and it was a complete nightmare. I already knew what I was up against as the DUI laws are pretty strict in Utah and they love to throw the book at you. I had been recommended to talk to Phil from an acquaintance who had been dealing with a DUI as well and don't regret it at all. He let me know what I was up against and was very honest about it. Over the past 9 months he was there every step of the way. After multiple court dates trying to lower my sentence I only ended up with a fine, a small amount (16 hours) of community service and mandated-by-state DUI classes (also 16 hours). He got my charge lowered to impaired driving and I have one year of probation. He doesn't rack up his price like most lawyers (I only paid $2500 for him and I know that's a giant bargain, especially for how good he is). He knows most of the judges and prosecutors in the valley so he really knows what he's doing. I would not go to anyone else, if you've found yourself in the miserable position of getting charged with a DUI I couldn't recommend Phil more. A+

I met with a total of 4 defense attorneys before deciding to hire Philip Wormdahl as my counsel, and I'm very glad I did. I ended up with Phil because I was impressed by our very first consultation. To start, he gave me plenty of time to explain my case, the situation, and carefully sought to understand every detail of what I was saying before rushing to assumptions of what I needed. In that meeting, Phil presented the attributes of an attorney with a lot of knowledge, confidence (not arrogance), thoughtfulness, and a sense of integrity. He was also assertive and clear in his communication on what he thought I should do, and an explanation for why I should do it. His consideration and thought process made a lot of sense. He treated me with respect and dignity. And at a particularly vulnerable time for me, I felt no judgment from him. I left that first meeting knowing in my gut I should hire Phil Wormdahl. My incident with the police resulted in a prescription drug-related DUI charge. Beyond a traffic ticket, I had never had any sort of run-ins like this with the police. My case was somewhat unique in its circumstance and involved other complexities that made my decision to hire the right attorney absolutely vital. Phil was able to hear the situation out, know how to handle it with best practice, explain what he had seen in terms of precedent, and was able to make a good plan. (Whereas other attorneys made little attempt to treat my case with anything but a cookie-cutter approach while being arrogantly assumptive). Phil and I made a customized plan for MY best interests... not for his. Ultimately, what I felt from Phil is that he had a professional interest in actually caring about my case. Phil showed he cared simply by his dogged determination to defend my case. He consistently had opportunities to encourage me to take the easy--but very unappealing--deals with the prosecution that in my mind (and to others) really didn't seem like it was serving justice. Phil always gave me the information, but then said something to the effect, "however, I think we should do [whatever brilliant idea he had] and keep trying for a much better outcome." As long as I was willing to work for it on my end, he was willing to pursue a viable option. We made a deal to always be honest with each other, and that he would never lead me to believe I could have some sort of outcome that wasn't realistic. He was assertive with me to hold up my end of the deal, too. But no matter what, Phil was persistent in finding every opportunity. Another way his drive and persistence really showed was by the sheer amount of time he (or his partners) spent in the courtroom with me. I had several court appearances, and for each one, we made incremental progress to achieve the best outcome. It was anxiety provoking and I often wished we could just stop and give in but Phil's willingness to keep going for my benefit helped me think clearly and push ahead. I knew I was one of many many cases he was juggling (it explained why he was occasionally late and frantically driving from one courtroom to another), but he made sure that I knew he was focused on my case at every point until it was finalized. What ultimately happened was that my charges were significantly reduced. And the only reason this could have happened was because of Phil. He used his legal knowledge, resources, personal relationships with the court, communication skills, his sense of care, and his integrity to achieve this win. He was driven to win in any way he ethically could. He made a tough situation easier and by being completely competent and confident. I am very grateful to Phil. In no small way did he achieve something incredibly meaningful to me, my family, and wellbeing. My gut told me to follow the counsel of Phil Wormdahl, and I'm very grateful I did. Just to be clear if this review isn't enough: I highly recommend Phil Wormdahl as your choice for an attorney.

When I was faced with legal trouble that could destroy my life and career, I didn't have much faith in attorneys or the legal system at all. I did research and chose Phil after reading all his great reviews. It was a very short notice (my arraignment was the following day) and he agreed to take my case and make sure I was covered in my first court appearance. Over the next few months, I always walked out of the court room feeling confident that he would win this for me. He was always 100% honest with me (even if the news wasn't what I wanted to hear) and he always made sure I understood what was going on at that time and what would come next. He is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to laws and if one defense might not work, he will find another. He's not afraid to ruffle feathers and his arguing skills are something you have to see to believe. From the beginning, I told him I did not want to plea bargain at any time and not once did he even mention doing so. Philip Wormdahl was my DUI defense attorney and did a fantastic job. I have used attorneys in the past and he was by far the best. He was able to keep me out of jail (not my first DUI), and he was also able to reduce my sentence so I do not have a DUI on my record. Phil is very well known and knowledgeable. Philip was referred by a coworker. I was absolutely terrified and had a lot to lose.
