Disorganized, allows other attorneys to bully her, not a strong negotiator

I hired Diana and while my divorce was finalized quickly, I had to constantly follow up with her and fix errors in her paperwork, filings, emails, etc... The only thing I was fighting for was to not pay my ex-husband alimony. Her advice and counsel was poor and I ended up paying alimony, even though... I shouldn't have. The day of mediation she told me she hadn't slept the night before because the opposing counsel got into her head. Even after a bad divorce process, I hired her to do my estate planning. It took months. I got an excuse after excuse why it took so long. I recently reached out to her again to ask about modifying the alimony agreement and expressed my displeasure about the mediation process (not her, I said I was upset with the process and outcome) and she told me to find another lawyer. I would advise others to do the same.

It is always challenging when clients are unhappy after they have reached an agreement to resolve their case. In this matter, the client wanted the divorce done quickly. No statement was ever made about the other counsel getting into my head. As with all my clients, we review during mediation the pros and cons of the terms of the proposed settlement agreement including whether a better resolution can be achieved in court. In this case, the mediator was a retired judge and we heard his opinions as well based on having held hundreds of divorce trials. This client voluntarily signed the agreement. By the time, the client contacted me to modify the agreement, I had changed the focus of my practice to an out-of-court practice. Modifying alimony requires going back to court and would have been difficult under the circumstances. Sometimes legal matters take time, such as this client's estate planning documents, when there is a delay by the client in providing the necessary information to complete the documents. Regards, Diana

Excellent attorney with understanding of both the legal and the human aspects of divorce.

When working through my divorce I did not understand many of the implications of my decisions and Ms. Telfer was able to explain how the decisions would affect me and my kids, all while showing compassion for stress and emotional duress I was experiencing during my divorce. Ms. Telfers guidance save...d me from some serious issues around alimony along with parent time issues I would have experienced if I would have tried to file on my own. Even though my Ex and I were trying to divorce amicably, there were many issues and having Ms Telfer as an advocate to draw on her experience to see both long and short term implications of the decisions being made has proven to be well worth the expense. I have been able to refer to my decree a number of times when disagreements have arrived with my ex that had the potential to have cost me much more in follow up than I spent up front. I know there are many different styles of attorneys and I interviewed a number of attorneys before selecting Ms. Telfer due to Ms Telfer being the best fit for what I was trying to accomplish. I recommend doing your research especially if you are not simply looking for a "hired gun" but looking for someone who has a strong sense of justice and can think outside the normal channels to solve issues.
