I highly recommend Diana Telfer as an attorney.

Working with Diana and her assistant made a very difficult experience much easier for me. Diana took time to understand my situation and find the best solutions. Throughout the process, she communicated consistently and I never felt "out of the loop" or wondered what would be happening next. She was ...approachable and compassionate. I would absolutely recommend her to someone looking for help with a divorce or other family related legal matter.

Excellent Choice For a Family Lawyer

I hired Diana a few years ago and put her on a retainer to help with family law issues pertaining to child custody. She helped me understand the law in the State of Utah and how it applied to my situation. Diana is an empathic listener who explains the law in understandable terms. She is prompt in he...r communications and always asks what the overall goal is for each call. I felt very empowered after each time I communicated with her. I'm very pleased with the outcome of my case and I highly recommend working with her!

Enabled harms to children

Ms. Telfer was selected by a friend of hers from school, and she has protected that friend's client instead of the children. She allows hostility at exchanges including speaking openly about calling the police on the father in front of the children, wearing a bodycam and walking off on the children ...as they were safely taken to her. She has enabled the mother to give the kids their clothes in garbage bags, "treating them like garbage". She has allowed repeated violations by the client of her friend - violations of law and court orders which are harming the children. The oldest requested to speak with his therapist alone, and was dismissed as a client thereafter because the mother had not been honest about the situation. He was put in group and despite concerns the son had expressed about his mother knowing someone there and not being able to speak freely, Ms. Telfer allowed it, claiming she would follow up and see how it was going. There's no indication she did. In fact, after that there were multiple DCFS reports about the mother that directly opposed what Ms. Telfer had represented to the court. It was items Ms. Telfer was hired to prevent. She failed the children. The oldest was getting suspended from school and then assaulted by his mother. She dug her fingernails into his cheeks and shoved a bar of soap in his mouth so hard he was bleeding in his mouth. He was also drawing violent pictures of his mother. Ms. Telfer didn't check with the child or DCFS, because this is about protecting the mother, not the child. DCFS recommended therapy, but Ms. Telfer and the mother have a lot to hide so after 3 months he still isn't with a therapist under his mother's care. Instead of reporting the violations and harms to the court, Ms. Telfer makes up allegations about the father. She actually claims that the father reporting the violations means he's mentally ill, despite his concerns being proven valid by multiple DCFS reports. I don't not find Ms. Telfer to be honest, competent, or to be looking out for the welfare of the children. I find her far more interested in protecting her friend's client. As of this writing, she's under investigation by the state bar for ethics violations.

It is common for a parent to be unhappy with the recommendations of a private guardian ad litem ("PGAL") when the PGAL does not agree with that parent's perspective. In this case, the commissioner and judge have both found that my investigation has been thorough and my representation of the children appropriate. There are court orders that verify this. I have interviewed the children multiple times, visited school officials multiple times, spoken with one of the child's therapist and reviewed the DCFS reports. To date, DCFS has not supported this reviewer's multiple allegations against the other parent. In terms of being retained by a friend, the attorney of the opposing parent was a law school classmate. I do not socialize with him. I have several cases with former classmates as opposing counsel. There are judges that are classmates. This does not create a conflict or bias. Lastly, the reviewer's statements about me being under investigation by the state bar for ethical violations at the time he left the review are false. He filed a complaint with the state bar alleging similar things as in this review. As of the review, the state bar had contacted the reviewer that there was no misconduct and his complaint was dismissed. He appealed the decision, which was also denied. He was told by the state bar that the case was closed. As with all my PGAL cases, my interest is helping my clients, the children, get what they need. This is true even when disgruntled parents harass me or attack my professional integrity in person or online.

High conflict custody case

I reached out to Diana after already hiring an attorney that didn't seem to believe in me. I set up a consultation and met with Diana. After the first meeting she gave me hope for my future endeavors and I hired her right away. I not only was fighting 1 custody relocation battle but I was fighting 2.... Diana is very knowledgeable with family law and is realistic with what different outcomes may occur. She is concerned about the best interest of the children and uses your money in the most cost efficient way to help your needs. I wish I would've went to Diana very first! In the end we had a good outcome and I was able to relocate out of state with my entire family together. Thank you Diana!

Best Decision i made was using Diana

My second go around in the family court system and Diana has made all the difference ! I wish i used her for the first round. She is so involved that I've never feel like my case is "streamlined". I'm constantly amazed how knowledgeable she is and she foreshadows things to come and how to prepare. ... As a parent who makes my kids my whole world, Diana has my 100% endorsement. I don't think she will ever fully know what she has done for my family, my boys and I thank you Diana !
