Shaun engaged in deceptive practices to get my business. He made promises and bragged about a high success rate claiming he had not lost a case in 2 years (both of these traits are unprofessional, and I doubt what he claimed was true). He also didn't provide an attorney agreement or put things in w...riting when he took my money (I found out later this is something an attorney is supposed to do). Then after Shaun took my money he, didn't return phone calls, didn't keep appointments, and didn't show up in court to represent me. The few times he actually kept his appointments he would show up 30 minutes late. My case should have been easy to win. The reason I lost is because Shaun Kaufman wasted a lot of time doing nothing to prepare for the court hearing. The other attorney offered an acceptable compromise but Shaun didn't follow up or keep appointments with the other attorney and their compromise was taken off the table. When I followed up with him about keeping his promises he began to threaten and yell at me. Asking him to do the work he promised should not have triggered so much rage and disrespect. I think he may have psychological issues. He also harassed the other side which added unnecessary drama and caused problems to resolving things. If he had done his job, I would have saved over $13,000 dollars in legal expenses and avoided problems that are now going to affect me for many years. I had to hire 2 other attorneys to try and clean up some of the mess that Shaun caused. Shauns dishonesty and unprofessional conduct hurt me immensely. I paid him a retainer of $1600 and feel he probably spent around 30 minutes actually working on my case. Inspite of the fact he didn't do the work I paid him for, he sent me a bill claiming owed him addition money for the work he claimed to have done. He should have refunded my retaining but he thought he could get more money from me by billing me for work he never did. Shaun was very fake and attentive while he is trying to get my business then his personality and demeanor changed soon after he got a retainer. Shaun was disciplined and lost his license in the past, yet he continues to do many of the things that caused him to have his revoked. It is clear he has no respect for his client, or for improving or changing his unethical practices. I regret hiring him. I plan to file a complaint with the Colorado Supreme Court and I hope they take away his license permanently. I encourage other victims of Shaun Kaufman to do the same so that our combined voices may help prevent Shaun from harming others.

Shaun Kaufman only seems to return your phone calls until you pay him a retainer. Then he ignores you and doesn't do the work he promised you. Weeks would go by and Shaun ignored me for about a month. Then if you continue to contact him or followup or expect him to do the work he was paid for he s...tarts to threaten you. He seems to think that being an attorney makes him immune from needing to provide the basic service that you paid him for. Shaun has an abusive and dishonest personality and seems to lack empathy. The little involvement he gave in my case was going to court to make sure he was the attorney on record (thereby preventing other attorneys from taking the case). In the courtroom he made unprofessional comments about the other side and his actions made it more difficult the negotiate with them. Shaun repeatedly missed meetings, was typically 30 minutes late for the few appointments he kept. Shaun is confrontational and his unnecessary drama also adds to your stress and legal costs. Much of his confrontation and drama gets directed at his client when Shaun tries to ignore you for failing to providing the work he was paid for. After he ignored me for about a month (missed meetings, no email responses, ignored texts) he changed is tactics and began threatening me. The shaun started making unprofessional comments of me, engaged in name calling, excessive criticism. Shaun brags about how good he is and he even claims he hasn't lost a case in 2 years and yet fails to help you after you pay him. I had to replace Shaun with another attorney and having Shaun involved in the early stages made it more difficult to win. The incompetence and Shaun Kaufman's failure to provide even basic service ate up valuable time and caused me to not have adequate time to prepare for court. Shaun's incompetence adversely affected my case. I lost a highly winnable case because of Shaun's incompetence. Had I hired a better attorney, I wouldn't be dealing with a legal nightmare that will have long term consequences. In 2003, Shaun was suspended from law and one of the reasons given for his suspension was mental health issues. He still has personality and integrity issues and he is an extremely incompetent and dishonest attorney. You would be far better off not hiring Shaun and representing yourself. You probably would do a better job...or hire another attorney. If you hire Shaun you will regret your decision.

We hired this attorney to represent my fiance who is facing serious charges and needed a good lawyer he was recommended and we trusted that he would do his very best to represent my fiance and bring the facts of the case and this would be a case full of reasonable doubt he never contacts us returns c...alls had us drop his money off at his home and shows up 30 min late to a motions hearing and does not argue nothing did nothing and then demanded 10,000 by end of the week or else hes withdrawing? he agreed to take payments he knew my fiance was not wealthy we both work and were doing our very best to pay him.. his trial is April 20th and hes without an attorney this guy needs to have his license taken away I wouldnt recommend him on a jay walking ticket ...

Shaun Kaufman is the worst attorney I have ever worked with. I have worked with around 40 attorneys over the years in various segments of law. Shaun Kaufman took my money and then ignored me. He missed appointments, would not return phone calls and ignored emails and text messages. Weeks would g...o by and I wouldn't hear from him, even though I had left messages asking him to contact me. About a month after I hired him I felt needed to interview other attorneys to replace him because Shaun Kaufman was missing in action and seemed to have taken my money and run. I interviewsed several attorneys and it quickly became apparent that Shaun is very unprofessional and inept compared to other attorneys. Several of the more qualified attorneys charged a flat rate for the case that was less than Shaun's retainer. It also sounds like many of the things Shaun was planning to do in court would not have held up or additional work was needed to enter things like emails into the court proceedings. Shaun did not appear to know or understand what was needed to defend my case. Then right before I was going to hire an attorney to replace Shaun Kaufman, I received a text message where he claimed a deal was reached with the other attorney. Because of that I held off on replacing him. Then several weeks went by and Shaun Kaufman seemed to be doing little to nothing, and he didn't return my calls, was missing appointments and not doing what he promised to do. Then 2 days before the hearing the deal with the other attorney fell through. Then we had only 2 days to prepare for the hearing and it appeared Shaun was doing nothing to prepare. I expressed my concern about the lack of work or preparation that was done and he told me to “calm down and wait a day to call him” and then he hung up the phone on me. Then one day before the hearing Shaun texted me and informed me he was withdrawing from my case. He told me my case would automatically get continued and I didn't need to go to court (and I really did need to go to court – I glad I didn't listen to him). He never returned some papers he had for my case (even the I asked him repeatedly to do this) and so it was more difficult for the next attorney not having the documents we needed. This guy claims to be a “Compassionate Attorney” and nothing could be further from the truth. He seems confident and attentive before you pay him, but then as soon as he gets your retainer you don't hear from him and little work is done. Avoid this guy. He wastes your time and your money. He will create a lot of stress and turmoil in your life. It takes him 3 times longer to accomplish things compared to other attorneys and the little work that gets done is inferior work. Shaun had his license taken away in 2003.
