H. Michael Steinberg

Mr. Steinberg graciously took my call on a whim when I randomly reached out to him. He took the call right then and there, and provided the attention one would expect if I had been under a retainer. I was so blown away with how he treated me and the level of thoughtfulness he provided for the cons...ultation. On top of that I called back a second time just to follow up on our previous conversation and he took the call, provided even more advice and didn't take me up on my offer to compensate him for the second follow up consultation. I was utterly shocked and impressed at his level of care, concern, and insight for a general consultation.

No one should be judged at their best moment nor their worst moment. I met Mr. Steinberg at my worst moment in life. I had been falsely accused of a crime I did not commit and was as it turns out falsely arrested based on false statements made by the Colorado Attorney General's Office investigator in... his written report to a judge to secure an arrest warrant. I was introduced to Steinberg by a friend and I hired Mr. Steinberg based on a flat fee agreement which according to Steinberg would cover all cost to review the discovery information and any work needed to get the case dismissed or dropped. Steinberg said if he could not get the case dismissed and we went to trial, we would talk about another flat fee for him to represent me in a trial . Steinberg read the document presented by the investigator and determined from that report that I was guilty and should plead guilty. I pointed out the false statements in the investigators report and Steinberg refused to listen nor conduct any type of investigation of the facts I presented to him which proved I was innocent. Steinberg refused to present any of that information to the prosecutors as I had requested in hopes that they would see the facts and drop the charges against me. Steinberg began demanding I pay him another flat fee for the trail prior to the date our engagement agreement said any addition fees would be due based on a trial. Steinberg was rude every time we spoke and did everything he could to force me to plead guilty. The more I told him I would not say I was guilty when I had not committed any crime. The more rude and frustrated he treated me. It was as if I had to fight against the false charges and my own defense attorney at the same time. Once I paid Steinberg his requested Trial fee a month prior to the planned trial date which is when he said the Trial fee would be due. Steinberg then and only then told me he would motion the court to continue the trial to a date three month out. We argued because I was losing income every day with the false charges hanging over my head. I explained that to him and let him know what a terrible impact the situation was having on me and my family. Steinberg did not care at all how my family was impacted. He had received a large payment for a trial and that appears to have been his only concern. I could not wait for him any longer so I hired qualified investigators and had them get in touch with Steinberg. Steinberg was upset that I had the audacity to hire my own investigators when he had not don so in eleven months. Nor had he spoken to a single witness on my behalf during that same time period. After the investigators completed their investigation. They contacted Steinberg via email and requested to meet with him and share the information they had found which was favorable to his client. Steinberg refused to meet with them and told them he was not interested in meeting with them because he was not planning to prepare for this trial until the courts gave him a specific date for the trial. I eventually terminated Steinberg as my attorney and requested a refund of the trial fee he did not provide service for. He is currently under investigation by the Attorney Regulation panel for misconduct. He has not returned my trial fee funds in over a year. I was found Not Guilty of the charges at trial.

I was facing 6 years of prison for a probation violation, scared out of my mind. Michael walked me through a 10 month process and ultimately kept me free. He has a deep understanding of the law, and noticed things that most lawyers would miss.. He also argued in court with an authencity and passion ...that belongs in movies. Together, those 2 traits, born from 40 years experience, kept me out of prison. On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, I rate Michael a 10.

From the very beginning, Michael was extremely professional and organized. His communication was on point. He kept me informed on the process and status of my case continuously through email, text and by phone calls. FYI: he is very short and direct. To some, this may come off the wrong way. Just rem...ember, you hired somebody to protect you, not to be your friend. Against all odds he was able to help me get a reduced sentencing from a DUI to a DWAI. I believe a lot of it was because the information he bundled together and presented to the DA. I would be in a much worse spot without him today. Thank you Michael.

I was referred to Mr. Steinberg from another lawyer regarding my case for a petition to deregister as a sex offender here in Colorado from a crime that was committed in Oregon. Originally, that was the premise of retaining him and I later found out that he had extensive connections within Oregon, as ...he had gone to law school there. Mr. Steinberg spent countless hours on my case and ultimately found out that I was not guilty of the charge that my lawyer in Oregon had me plead to. He reached out to the District Attorney in Oregon and explained the situation and presented his findings so that I was ultimately dismissed of the charge in Oregon, relieving my duty to register here in Colorado. I had consulted numerous lawyers prior that who hardly gave me the time of day, but Mr. Steinberg went above and beyond, ultimately getting the charge dismissed from my record. If I had not been referred to Mr. Steinberg, then I would have continued to deal with the consequences of this charge for the rest of my life.
