Karen Sue Steinhauser

2015-2016 Karen was my lawyer for a serious case, I honestly would not be here writing this review if it wasn't for her. Karen is a very knowledgeable, intelligent and compassionate lawyer and person. She genually cares about her clients and always keeps you in the loop even if it's the smallest deta...il. She is amazing.

I never wanted to find myself in a position where I needed a lawyer. Ashamed, embarrassed, and scared, I was going through many emotions. When I called Karen, her first words to me were "Are you ok?" It immediately calmed me. She spoke to me as a friend without judgement. Whenever Karen met w...ith me she was always friendly, but also very professional and prepared. She was to the point and did not waste anyone's time. She provided me with information to guide me through every process. Court, DMV, probation, name anything and Karen had the answer. Another thing I love besides her friendliness, knowledge and professionalism, was she seemed like a celebrity. Everyone knows Karen or wants her advice. Every lawyer or government worker knew her and wanted to talk to her. But that doesn't phase her or take away from her work. She still took the time to sit with me and focus all of her energy on my case. She is so humble and easy to get along with. I was charged with a second DUI. My case was different than most and I was innocent. Karen got all charges dropped. It was a long year of fighting, but Karen got it done and I can move on. While it's never a good situation when you have to hire a defense attorney, the disquietude and apprehension of a pending legal matter can be made much easier by hiring an attorney like Karen. After being accused of street racing with a multitude of stacked charges, I contacted Karen - someone who ha...d given me excellent consultation advice in the past - to discuss my case. She was able to sit down with me right away and create a plan for both the civil and criminal/traffic portions of the matter. Within a few days, our initial meeting and all of the associated initial paperwork was completed, and she got to work on my case - this was timely. I can say, in all honesty, it was worth paying her to show up to all three of the appearances I had - two in Denver Municipal Court and one meeting with the City Attorney. She is the type of attorney that is on time, communicative, and ensures all matters are taken care of for you while you're present in court. Karen resolved my case exactly two months after the original police encounter having expertly navigated a civil matter with the city of Denver, with an extraordinarily satisfactory outcome. It was an outcome that allowed me to keep my license and freedom. Here are the two primary reasons I would recommend her and trust her: she is seasoned, and thus knows or has worked with a lot of judges, DAs, and city attorneys in the past, and she is not the type of attorney that will milk you for money. The former is helpful for obvious reasons, a well connected lawyer is worth their weight in gold. The latter is present in her modus operandi - by resolving my case as quickly as possible with a FAR better-than-expected plea deal, she saved me the time and money of having to show up to court again, have a DMV hearing, and the like. However, she was also willing to intelligently fight the charges if it came to that, and clearly had a strategy developed long before first appearance. We even communicated while she was on family vacation - during Christmas - out of the country via e-mail, so I was never left in the dark. She is conscientious about the costs involved in legal matters, and will always advise you to do what is both best for the outcome and your wallet. Ultimately, Karen worked well within my budget and provided me a high standard of legal representation. She is the kind of attorney that will keep you in line, but in a way that is extremely professional and effective. Again, I would recommend her to anyone, especially if you're facing a extortionate traffic ticket or something more serious.
