“A Man Who Is His Own Lawyer Has a Fool for a Client”: There's a reason this saying exists! I will just say that when I first got my notices, I was ready to put my degrees/inner Perry Mason to the test, and wrote the answers to the court on my own. I'll show you, I thought. I was totally prepared to ...fight this in court representing myself as it's hard to pay someone to fight for your money when you have no money in the first place. As a precaution afterward, though (and thankfully with my nagging conscience chewing at me), I consulted with Mr. Schafer just to make sure I wasn't being foolish...which he completely assured me I was although he was nice enough to tell me he'd give me a C for my answers if he was my professor. However, as he informed me, it turns out there's a lot more to courts and the law than just mailing in some paperwork then showing up and giving a triumphant speech about indignities, ignorance, incompetence, and truth, justice, and the American Way. There's judges with their own agendas and idea to navigate, lawyers to schmooze (or heckle), and a long list of other job duties and necessities you won't find online or in a book. In short, to beat a good lawyer, you gotta be a good lawyer, and to be a good lawyer, you have to live that down and dirty lawyer life in the wastelands of the court system, which I don't. Mr. Schafer, however, is the Mad Max of this wasteland; knee-deep in knowledge, honesty, integrity, and all those other words that one would attach to what they think makes for a good lawyer. He is very direct and full of facts and info, gives you the multiple choices, doesn't push you one way or this, and I have to say...he has a wicked sense of humor if you catch him on the right day. I can not say enough good things about Mr. Schafer, the experience, or the service he provided me. To boot, he was even super nice and worked with me on a payment plan that fit the budget...along with just making sure that I got charged for everything up front so there were no surprises along the way. In closing, even if you decide not to retain his services, you should at least give him a call to chat because you can rest be assured that he will point you the right way...he's that good of a lawyer.

When I received the notice on my front door that I was being sued; needless to say, sheer panic set in and I didn't have a clue as to what to do or who to call. I received a letter in the mail from the Schafer Law firm and needless to say, I made the call with a quickness. My initial conversation w...as with Brandy who made me feel as if I was speaking to my good girlfriend and assured me how things were going to work out just fine. Brandy put my mind at ease and needless to say, in speaking to Mr. Schafer, my mind was at total ease. The lawsuit was settled for far less than what they initially wanted and I owe it to Mr. Schafer. Just as I thought I was over my legal troubles, I receive another lawsuit from Portfolio Recovery. My call was to Mr. Schafer (obviously) and when he stated to me that he could handle this lawsuit as well, I didn't doubt that for one second. The lawsuit was dismissed and I owe it to Mr. Schafer. I could not recommend anyone with more integrity than the Schafer Law Firm.
