Client Review

I hired Harris as attorney twice over the past five years. I found Harris to be very knowledgeable of the law and proceedings. He is very down to earth but very smart. He knows his way around the courtroom, and it is apparent to me that he has the respect of prosecuting attorneys and judges. I li...ked his advice, i liked his style, and most of all i liked the results he got for me. I recommend Harris and should I ever need a layer again, I will definitely call him.

Grandson in trouble

When our grandson was arrested on school property with a useable amount of marijuana, we had no idea what to do or who to call. Mr. Wood was recommended to us and he helped us through a difficult process. He was straightforward and honest about our grandson's options and what he could expect. M...r. Wood explained the system to our grandson and was informative and responsive throught the process. He made no promises that he could not keep. Most importantly Mr. Wood gained our grandson's trust and made him truly understand the gravity of his situation; something we, his grandparents, had tried unsuccessfully to do. Our grandson holds Mr. Wood in the highest esteem as do we.

Tells you the truth not just what you want to hear. Knowledgeable, straightforward, has great advice.

I met Harris when I was going through my divorce in 2006. During our consultation Harris listened, paid attention and asked questions to really understand my personal situation. He explained the law, pros and cons of not being able to come to an agreement with my spouse and having the court make the ..."standard" decision. To be honest, I didn't listen. I didn't want to believe the law could be (what felt like) one sided. I didn't want to accept that I would lose so much time with my daughter because of the decisions of my wife. I searched for another lawyer to get a different opinion and I found one that played to my emotional state. He told me exactly what I wanted to hear. So about 2 months into Harris working on my divorce, I switched lawyers. After a big retainer fee upfront, a couple thousand more in the next 8 months, my case was going nowhere and everything was stalled which didn't help me one bit. I called Harris, apologized for being irrational and not trusting him to do his job. I asked if he would retake my case again. I really thought Harris, being a lawyer, would have responded with something like... sorry, I was willing to work for you, but you decided you didn't need my service. Good luck finding another lawyer. But he didn't. He understood and accepted my case again. In the end I would've saved myself a lot of time, money and headaches if I would've just listened to Harris and followed his advice in the beginning. Since finalizing my divorce in 2007, Harris was there for me when they wanted to modify (increase) child support. He was well organized and it seemed as if we had all the information prepared way before they requested it. It made things go quicker. After everything was said and done, my CS actually went down by 1/3rd. When friends or family members needed a lawyer, Harris is the only person I would recommend.

Honest, Straightforward & Zealous

He is smart, knows the system and the people who work within it well. The various agencies comprising law enforcement charge people with unwarranted, unjust crimes every day. The District Attorney's prosecutors win in about 95%+ of all cases in which a person is charged with a crime and are only to...o happy to get hard sentences, collect fees and fines from people who show up with no lawyer or an incompetent one at best. In addition to that there are no shortage of lawyers who only do it for the money and they know how to make the system work against you and for themselves with unnecessary appearances, resets without regard to the financial & time costs to their clients after collecting that initial retainer. At that point they don't do what they've said they would do because then they their acting only in their own best interest, shape-shifting into deceitful and clever liars. You're trapped, likely they've planned a different strategy for dealing with you and your case before you ever walked through their the door. One lawyer we consulted on one case asked for $3000 non-refundable paid up front, without ever looking at any evidence or even listening to facts or for that matter anything we had to say. As soon as that form of lawyer gets your money he/she will no longer treat you as a valued client but become abusive and treat you like a unwanted, cornered pet. My family dealt with two separate spurious cases brought by police, neither of which should have ever had charges filed and Mr. Wood handled them both efficiently with superb results. Only two appearances for each and at a reasonable fee. All charges dismissed in both cases. - Get Real Get Wood!

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"Harris and I defended a mutual client together against a serious criminal accusation. Harris was appointed to the client after I had obtained a mistrial for the client and was removed without cause. The client wanted to keep me on the case, so I had to appeal my removal all the way to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals to get reinstated. After being reinstated, I managed to get a dismissal for the client, but only after Harris's hard work! During Harris's representation of the client, he immediately ordered the trial transcript and diligently acted in the client's defense. Harris also assisted the the client and I in getting me reinstated as his attorney. I have found that Harris's clients have no problem trusting in his ability and trusting in the basic fact that he really does care. I would trust Harris to defend my own family."
