Biography
Chance A. McMillan founded The McMillan Law Firm with the promise of providing top-level legal representation in a variety of personal injury fields. He is Board Certified in Personal Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization – a designation certifying his substantial trial experience. Mr. McMillan’s legal practice focuses on a wide range of pre-litigation, litigation and trial topics, including personal injury claims, workplace accidents, trucking and automobile claims, among others.
Born in Kirbyville, Texas and raised around the Houston area, Mr. McMillan attended the University of St. Thomas in Houston on an academic scholarship, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Philosophy. After college, Mr. McMillan attended South Texas College of Law located in downtown Houston where he was frequently included on the school’s Dean’s List showcasing academic significance among his fellow classmates. In law school, Mr. McMillan won back-to-back state and regional championships (Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi), plus a national championship for the school’s nationally acclaimed advocacy program in mock trial competitions. He won numerous awards for his speaking abilities while in law school. Mr. McMillan was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, a nationally recognized honor society made up of the country’s best oral advocates. His impact on his law school was so significant that South Texas College of Law asked Mr. McMillan to serve as an adjunct professor at the age of 26 to teach students trial strategies and techniques.
Mr. McMillan’s legal experience began before he even graduated from law school. He clerked for two of the most prominent plaintiff’s personal injury firms in Texas, which were known for aggressively working cases and for taking them to trial. Mr. McMillan gained invaluable experience working with well-known and prominent personal injury attorneys before becoming licensed to practice law.
Upon passing the bar exam, Mr. McMillan accepted a position working with an established plaintiff’s personal injury attorney with over 40 years’ experience litigating and trying injury cases all across Texas. Within a year, he controlled a majority of the firm’s cases, while acting as lead counsel in various personal injury trials. Mr. McMillan was immediately recognized by such organizations as Super Lawyers by Thomson Reuters, where he was listed as a Rising Star (2016-2019), and The National Trial Lawyers as one of the Top 40 Trial Lawyers Under 40 years old.
Clients have come to Mr. McMillan for his fierce advocacy and fearless approach towards obtaining the best possible results for his clients. This man is not afraid of the insurance companies
I hired chance for an automobile accident case. The insurance company refused to settle my case and made us go to court. Chance did a great job and showed the jury what was needed to get a great verdict.
