Brett A. Podolsky

I would like to post a this review to explain my experience having attorney Brett Podolsky defend me against a false accusation made by an ex-girlfriend. This resulted in felony charges for supposedly attacking and choking my GF at the time. According to the police she was beaten and choked unt...il she thought she was going to die. They had statements and photos. I was innocent of these charges and at the time I was arrested, I was a cadet at the DPS Police Academy. I was arrested in Austin, Texas where I stayed in jail for weeks before I was extradited back to Houston where the case was filed. I worked very hard to get accepted to the DPS Academy and was devastated and humiliated when I was arrested in front of other cadets. My family and I met with several lawyers and decided on Mr. Podolsky as he seemed to be best able to fight the case for me. It was the best choice we ever made. It took almost a year with the DA trying to send me to prison and then probation and then they offered to reduce the case to a misdemeanor. Every time they came at us with an unacceptable offer, Brett had the evidence and documents and arguments to shoot it down. He believed in my innocence and never once did he try to pressure me to "plea out" or take a deal. I watched in court as things sometime got heated with the DAs but he never budged. Finally the DA agreed to dismiss the case. I was in court with family and we almost broke down in the middle of the courtroom. Brett represented my husband in a serious felony case , the DA was insisting he go to prison for several years. Brett fought the case for months never backed down . Subpoenaed records and investigated the case and proved my husband was innocent . After almost a year of going to court they dropped all... charges . Awesome lawyer a real fighter!!!!!!

I was raised to always be truthful and take ownership for any mistake...s you make in life. It is sad that this experience has changed my perception about the police, while I was taking ownership for my mistake I never thought the police would be so incompetent and could charge you for things that so obviously I had nothing to do with. This experience has made me so thankful for defense attorneys and the work you do. Max was great and very good not only assisting with my cases but he was great handling me and my emotions and lack of knowledge in a world I knew so little about.
