Efrain Sain

Provided me with a free consultation for my husband't criminal case. Was very thorough with reviewing the case and potential outcomes. He kept us informed throughout the whole process and managed to find a loop hole in the system, which allowed for the charges to be dropped (when my husband was look...ing at prison time over the charges). While my husband was incarcerated, there were a few medical concerns, and he graciously contacted the medical staff on several occasions to relate my concerns. He is very caring and highly intelligent. He was recommended to me by another client of his, and I would highly recommend hiring him for any criminal case!! I can't thank him enough for his assistance, he saved our family.

Mr.Sain was appointed to represent me as a public defender in a drug case in denton county. Now i have read many great reviews about him from people who actually hired him. However,seeing as how i could not afford an attorney he was assigned my case,which he did not handle properly or in a timley fas...hion. He regularly missed court appearances,did not try to object at all to the sketchy police report and didnt argue to get me any kind of better deal. He was rude and uncooperative with my family. It seemed at times that he didnt care at all about my outcome because after all, im not the one paying him. When its all said and done ,the best thing he could do was to get me a 5 year sentence. He didnt argue my case at all with the D.A and simply took their offer to me,never trying to get me any less time. We as defendants need lawyers who are aggressive and passionate about helping their clients. Mr.Sain is not. He is lazy,unprofessional and INCOMPETENT. He may work well or actually care about your case if you hire him,but if he is appointed your case he could care less. Case and point, I waited in denton county jail for 9 months before he even got me an offer.My court date was reset many times, sometimes for 6 weeks or more later. What does he care right?Its not him who has to sit in jail and wait for him to do nothing. I will summarize this statement by saying that he is severly incompetent, for lack of a better word. I would never refer him to anybody needing legal help. Many other inmates who were incarcerated with me and who were represented by him all have the same opinion of him. Too bad many of them have not written an appropriate review of his lackluster performance.

This is my first trouble with the law ever that resulted from a stupid argument that got out of hand. My stepkids, one 13 year old boy and one 19 year old daughter, got physically involved in the argument and had some bruising on their arms from me grabbing their arms to prevent them from hitting me.... My Colombian wife, thinking that it was like Colombia and the police would only have a chat with me and not do anything in family violence cases, went to the police two days later to see if there was anything the police could do to save our marriage. She and the stepkids went with the spirit that I was a great husband, a great father -- they did this without knowing that I had already scheduled marriage counseling. The police took the statements of the kids and my wife (except for my stepson's -- important detail) and called me a day later. Never having been in trouble with the law, I voluntary recounted what had happened to the officer on the phone (bad idea -- I basically confessed to grabbing the kids, regardless if it was for self-defense). He charged me over the phone, asked me to turn myself in, and just like that, I was an accused criminal -- one Felony charge for assault with family violence with bodily injury for the 13-year old, and another Misdemeanor A charge for assault with family violence with bodily injury for the 19-year old. This was in Denton county. Now, as you may or may not know, family violence cases on your record will never go away. There is no option to expunge a family violence case. As a project manager with two Master's degrees and a decent career, this was hell for me -- basically everything I worked for over the years went poof! Gone due to bad decisions made one night. After turning myself in and being arrested and arraigned (an experience in itself), I immediately looked for a lawyer. I found Avvo, and from there, had initial consultations with about 6 lawyers. All of them charged exorbitant fees and all of them were hourly and none of them gave me the confidence that they would truly work for me and my interests -- except for one: Mr. Efrain Sain. After meeting him, I saw how dedicated he was and I immediately went to the car for my checkbook and wrote him a check that afternoon. That was the best decision I made for this case. It was a grueling 12 months until the close of these two cases (from August 2015 to May 2016). The Felony case was the most serious. Mr. Sain reviewed the evidence from the District Attorney (DA) and my stepson was willing to make an affidavit to say that the police did not ask for his statement and that his bruising caused no pain (apparently for "bodily injury," the victim has to experience some kind of pain -- another testimony to Mr. Sain's legal expertise). Mr. Sain submitted this affidavit to the DA, kept in touch with me through his secretary, and I received a call him later informing me that the jury decided not to proceed with the case. It was a no bill! For the Misdemeanor, it was several months of going back and forth in the court, but Mr. Sain was able to negotiate with the DA for a court dismissal with the condition I took counseling. This was in Denton County, which previously did not have this program. Mr. Sain got me into the program, told me to go to counseling early, so I was able to shop around for the best price. A couple of anger management classes and an all-day parenting class later, and the case was dismissed as part of the plea! No court fees or anything. The whole thing is finally over and there is an option to expunge my record after the statute of limitations. In the end, my wife and I are still together and the counseling improved our marriage greatly. We see this as a blessing more than anything. I highly recommend Efrain. The only thing I suggest is to EMPATHIZE with him -- he's a busy guy, working feverishly on your case. Be patient and trust in his expertise; it will pay off.

We didn't know what to expect from our son's court-appointed attorney Efrain Sain but were very relieved when we read his website and his rating and reviews on Avvo. Efrain definitely lived up to our expectations based on what we read! We were out-of-state parents feeling pretty helpless and scared ...when our son was arrested for aggravated assault after a night of partying. Efrain returned our call quickly and explained Texas law and the court process with great patience. He was diligent in negotiating the very best possible plea deal: the felony charge was deferred and probation was twice reduced and ended up to be 4 years with a reduced fine and 160 hours of community service. Efrain also made sure our son understood the exact possible consequences of any further problems and encouraged him to re-connect with his support system and stay clean and sober!

I was visiting one of my friends when a fight broke out, I tried to help the situation without touching anyone, however a year after the event I was falsely accused and charged of an assault as well as the other people present there. That is when I recieved a mail from Mr. Sain. Usually I am skep...tical of anything solicited but he had his education and a free consultation option mentioned in the flyer, so I called and booked a visitation. At my first meeting he was very informative of the court systems and how I should go about this trial, he was understanding of my financial situation and gave me a good deal for looking into this case, but more so he believed my story. Even though the court took two years to resolve this case, and two other defendants were similarly charged. Comparing Mr. Efrain to the other defendant's lawyer who was supposed to be an expensive, well known lawyer, in these two years Mr Efrain did a splendid job at keeping up with the details of the case, witness, court dates and even meeting with me. He was very compassionate about my requirements, always present, and even took out the time to come to the other defendants trials to be prepared for mine. I did not have a jury trial even though I paid for one, a week later the judge offered a trial but that did not happen either because Mr. Efrain was able to get me a good plea bargain. Either way prior to the plea bargain, he put forth all his effort as if we WERE going trial. He maybe late for your first court date or few others but his office is all the way in Valley View lane and he's running around denton and collin county, so do not think he does not care, he does; but traffic is real too. Be patient with him, and he will be understanding and patient with you.
