Fighting DWIs isn't just my job - it's my passion! I have been defending Dallas area DWI cases with great success since 1987. I have defended well over 1,500 DWI cases during that time period. I have won over 300 Not Guilty verdicts over that period, and I have had over 200 DWI cases dismissed. I have spoken at several DWI defense seminars, and make it a point to help other lawyers improve their practice skills in order to better assist their clients.

NOT GUILTY: He cannot promise it but he will do everything he can to get it.

“NOT GUILTY.” Those words echoed in my head as time stood still while I found peace in a lingering moment after 3 years of drawn out court dates for a DWI conviction. By my side was the best attorney I could ever hope for: John Gioffredi. Like all attorneys, he scared me with the appearance of disor...ganization and seeming selective listening habits but when judgement day arrive and we went to court John cut through the prosecutor’s and witnesses’ statements with stealthy ninja-like skills. I received an acquittal and (I know you won’t believe this but) immense respect for an attorney who is working diligently as I write this to get my arrest record expunged. I am so grateful that I left my previous attorney after he was going to sell me down the river; John fought hard for me every step of the way with a "never say die" attitude. This whole experience was dark, lonely, and miserable and I would not wish it on anyone, but if you have to go through it I can think of no better man to have by your side than John Gioffredi. He never promised a "not guilty" but compared to the other attorneys I hired and fired he did everything he could, including fighting and winning an appeal, having improperly obtained evidence removed, and ultimately having the prosecuting attorney throw in the towel and phone in his case. Hire this man immediately.

I have stealthy ninja-like skills? Really? How about that! Maybe I should become a ninja, or at least raise my fees! But seriously, I couldn't be happier for Lawrence. He is absolutely correct: DWI arrests are indeed dark, lonely, and miserable, and it's always great to win a DWI case for a good client like Lawrence! Be safe, my friend!

If you're reading this, you're in the right place.

If it hasn’t been made clear from the other reviews, John knows his stuff and genuinely loves to fight these cases. He’ll fight to get the charges dropped or at least reduced and has success doing so. I was stopped leaving a “high traffic bar area” in Denton back in May of 2013. I was acquitted 5 ...days ago and have now begun the expungement process. I was stopped for allegedly running a stop sign across a very busy intersection. I knew, and the passengers with me knew that I didn’t run it. I submitted to a blood test and the results came back as 0.15+ (mandatory interlock installed as a condition of your bond). I was upset because I felt I had been wrongfully stopped, I couldn’t believe the blood results, and I was furious. Upon my initial consultation with John, he advised me that “probation is for suckers” and that typically, if you go to trial you could be finished with everything earlier than the probation given. However, it wasn’t a one and done decision to go with John. I had looked around and probably talked to 4-6 other attorneys. The thing that really stuck with me with John is the subtle differences about his consultation, his website, and honestly these reviews. Not one other attorney I spoke with ever mentioned that you should document everything you remember from the arrest in as much detail as possible. That sounds so obvious it’s actually amazing that nobody else suggested that. That, and the consultation - the fact he stayed an hour and a half after business hours to talk to me and explain the process - that is what sold me on John. He legitimately cares about each case he takes on. Once John and his team were able to get the discovery (police report, dash cam, etc.) we sat down and discussed strategy. Despite a glowing review from the arresting officer, the opinion I “looked very sober” (words of the prosecutor) in my field test, and my overall positive attitude and cooperation at the time of the arrest, John decided the best plan of attack was to fight the legality of the stop as to render the blood results inadmissible. Fast forward 2 1/2 years and we finally get to go to trial (don’t get arrested in Denton - the courts reset 4 months at a time). If you ever have doubts about John, if you’re beginning to feel like a plea to end it would be a good idea, all I can say is to wait it out, remain patient, and let John do his thing. Watching John work was a thing of beauty. Walking through the courthouse with John, other attorneys will come by to say hello and tell you something along the lines of “you’ve got the best attorney in the state” etc. but actually seeing John in his element and witnessing what he does best, any doubt or insecurity was gone. From the jury selection process to the cross examinations during trial, it was beyond evident that John loves his job, is highly respected in his field, and in my case, he’s extremely good at his job. There isn’t anyone I would have rather had by my side fighting to keep my record clean. I know the entire process is miserable. Having a constant reminder of the night each time (and subsequent times thereafter) you start your vehicle is demoralizing. Waiting two and a half years for closure on a DWI charge is exhausting, but having John and his team backing you up and fighting for you makes the entire process manageable. If you are going through this and are still trying to make your decision, pick John Gioffredi.

Kyle is one the nicest human beings on the planet. I had a note on my file: "The jury is going to love this guy." I was thrilled to win his DWI case for him! It was just awful that he had to keep an interlock device in his vehicle for the 28 months leading up to the trial. Well, it's sure not in his vehicle anymore!

Great Representation

I hired John Gioffredi after being referred by a co-worker. I was facing my 2nd DWI charge and was very nervous about the situation I was facing. John's staff was very helpful and informative through the entire process. I was represented by counsel at the multiple court dates that did not actually... require by attendance, allowing me to avoid taking time off from work. John worked out the best possible plea deal for my situation, and did his best to get all the conditions I was asking for met. I was very pleased with the representation I received and would recommend John to anyone needing legal services.

Not going down w/o a fight!

I spoke with John on my first DWI case and at the time his rates were a little more than I wanted to pay, looking back I should have paid the money and had John in my corner. So on my second offense I did hire John, unfortunately I did not take the advise he previously offered and I was tricked into... blowing at the car as the officer said it was not admissible in court (the result was not the video was). So after a lengthy wait the date finally came I had 2 friends there to provide character witness statements if necessary. Not only did he WOW me with his ability to work the courtroom and the witnesses I still hear from my friends how much he impressed them. I did end up with a guilty charge after the Jury deliberated for 3.5 hours and the fault was not on John but on me for blowing at the car when i was arrested. I did 45 days work release in Collin County and a $2,500 fine, no license suspension, no classes or breathalyzer, or anything else one would normally expect for a 2nd DWI. I would strongly recommend hiring John to represent you and also pass along all of his advise to friends and even strangers on the street. It could prevent you and your friends from ending up in my shoes. I am now fighting my 3rd DWI with John in my corner, it will be an uphill battle but I know I can trust on John to be there till the end. If there is any way to prevent this Felony charge going on my record I know John will find it! Upon receiving my 3rd charge I received many flyers in the mail from other law offices and after calling around I told them I was using John Gioffredi all 3 attorney's told me I had chosen well that John was one of the best! Was even told if I had John representing me I didn't need to look any further!

Following up on John's earlier comments: Here we are more than three years later. FINALLY, after winning a motion to suppress his blood test, having the State appeal that, and having the appellate court confirm the suppression ruling, finally we had the trial yesterday. Not Guilty on John's DWI 3rd, in no small part because of getting his 0.18 blood test suppressed. I suspect that John will long remember yesterday's Cinco de Mayo! JMG 5-6-15

"John has been a winning DWI trial attorney for a very long time. He's innovative and brilliant and those traits serve his clients extremely well. He shares his legal knowledge freely with members of the defense bar. Everybody knows him and everybody knows he brings everything when he tries a case. Plus, he's got some of the best stories of cases he's won despite extraordinarily unfavorable circumstances. We've got some great attorneys in town but none better than Gio!"

"I had the opportunity to observe John in court for a two-day jury trial for his client charged with DWI. This was going to be an uphill battle for him, but he was very professional (but firm) with witnesses, and was able to persuade the jury to find his client not guilty. He is highly knowledgeable about Texas law, and a very gifted attorney!"

He has taught his proven techniques to the rest of the legal community for years to help us all become better lawyers. He is a must have for any legal seminar or DWI dream team. I doubt there is one lawyer who does not incorporate something they have learned from him in their jury selection or trial presentation. They might not even know they are doing so because so many people have passed on what they learned from John. Solid choice for your DWI lawyer."
