Fighting DWIs isn't just my job - it's my passion! I have been defending Dallas area DWI cases with great success since 1987. I have defended well over 1,500 DWI cases during that time period. I have won over 300 Not Guilty verdicts over that period, and I have had over 200 DWI cases dismissed. I have spoken at several DWI defense seminars, and make it a point to help other lawyers improve their practice skills in order to better assist their clients.

Great lawyer, awesome results!

John and his staff are very professional and knowledgeable. I had a matter that needed legal representation, I visited 3 top and very reputable lawyers for an initial consultation and without any doubt John G was the best. During the initial free consultation, John took the time to understand my ...situation and all the details to then explain in great detail the options and possible outcomes and finally answer my very numberous questions. I knew that he was the best, so I decided to hire his services that same day. The outcome of my situation was the very best possible - like the incident never happened and I know it was in great part due to John's prompt intervention. John acted immediately, making phone calls and guiding me on steps I needed to take myself. Also, his staff were patient with me (due to the specifics of my situation, time was at the essence - and I knew from John that a prompt resolution was a good one) and my daily calls and constant emails. Apologies for that, just wanted the situation closed as soon as possible. Thank you John and staff!

In this client's case, we were able to avoid any criminal charges being filed by being proactive and reaching a deal with the victim and the detective handling the case. We reimbursed the victim for some damages without ever having to admit responsibility or having to respond to any criminal charges. In property damage cases, it is sometimes possible to do this if you hire a lawyer early in the process. The sooner, the better! Congratulations, and thank you for the kind review!

John Gioffredi is awesome!

Let me start by saying John Gioffredi is awesome! He took my case and had no doubt he could beat this case! I had doubts, my case was an unusual one, let's just say I got a DWI, but I was never in the car. When you love someone sometimes you do some crazy things. So I was in a bad situation and I... didn't know what to do. John came highly recommended to me from a friend of a friend, so I set up a free consultation. John was very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, trustworthy, fair and reliable as well as his whole staff. When I went over my story with John he was not judgmental, what he was, was very confident that he could win this case or even get it dismissed. He was 100% correct; he beat the case and got all charges dismissed. I will definitely recommend John to anyone who needs a lawyer, he is totally AWESOME. Dot :)

Dot had an unusual case. To make a long story short, a drunken house guest had wrecked Dot's vehicle around 2 am, and then had run into Dot's home about three houses down. Dot was in bed sleeping when the wreck happened. When the police arrived, the guest told the police that Dot had been driving. Dot had taken some prescription sleeping pills and was completely out of it, so it seemed logical to the police that she would have wrecked her car in that condition. The vehicle was also registered in Dot's name. But of course none of that proves that Dot was driving. If the DA can't prove that you were driving, they sure can't prove that you were driving while intoxicated!

Prosecutor passed by after a hearing and said, "Your Attorney's A Rockstar".

I was dealing with a DWI 2nd out of Collin County. I was freaking out over even the thought of spending a day confined in Jail. Knowing that this was my DWI 2nd, and a big deal... I decided to handle this with a different approach than my first. If I would have known about John Gioffredi almost 10 ye...ars ago I am confident I would have never been looking at a DWI 2nd, because if I had utilized John's services I would have never been convicted of my 1st to start with. When interviewing attorney's I was considering... I would say to each and every one... I know you are very qualified and I feel confident in your abilities, but other than obviously yourself... who would you recommend? Almost ever single one recommended John Gioffredi. After meeting with John, I felt much more at ease... but at first consulation, I told John I was still going to continue & shop around. John was so kind to say, that I was more than welcome to come back even a 2nd or 3rd time to discuss my case until I felt comfortable about my decision. I did not feel rushed, he spent well over 2 hours with me my first visit and many more on multiple trips continuing discussions even before I retained him! I meet with another handful of attorney's that all were about the money, and not giving you a second of there time. You can tell 8 out of 10 just want your money and run... from a short shallow consultation to pleading your case as quickly as possible so they can move on to the next sucker. You get what you pay for and that goes for almost anything in life. Some people like a Cadillac but I'm sorry, I'll take the Rolls Royce. Best part about this... John worked out a payment plan that allowed me to finance the Rolls and forget about that Cadillac. I am not easy to deal with, I have extreme anxiety and always think the worst. I drove John up the wall with phone call after phone call and showing up at office. John stayed cool, calm and collective even though I drove the man crazy. He made me feel at ease, and just the way he carries himself in the court room... you are left feeling 100% confident. My Case: I retained John Gioffredi. I was pulled over for a DWI 2nd due to a 911 caller and being followed until intercepted by Police. I was asked what city I was in, I said a city about 20 miles off. I looked ok on video until I agreed to doing Field Sobriety Test. My first attorney 10 years ago never told me I could refuse, I was just aware that I could refuse Breath Specimen only. I refused Breath but did not do well on Field Sobriety Test. With the test on Video, 911 caller that stopped and made statement, and not knowing what city I was in... my case was not great. John set it for trail anyways and filed for motion to suppress. At the last minute prosecutor offered me 12 months probation, 5 days in Jail and usual classes. I did not like 5 days jail... John countered with 9 months probation, 3 days in jail the minimum allowed and 30 hours community service. Prosecution excepted counter and I received 9 months probation, 3 days in jail that turned into being only 4 hours... Yes! 30 hours community service, the classes and No Fine. 9 months probation and basically 4 hours in jail... with the bad facts of my case? This was a huge win for me and I thank John Gioffredi. This is less than half the punishment I received for my 1st DWI!!! 1/2 way through my probation, Probation tried to put me in Supportive Outpatient Treatment for 4.5 months because of a bogus evaluation. John got a 2nd evaluation, called for expert testimony and had a hearing to stop this non-sense. Hearing lasted about 10 minutes, and the condition probation tried to add was over ruled by Judge. As I was waiting in front of court house on John to finish with Clerk, Prosecutor walked by from hearing and said, "Your Attorney's A Rockstar". Prosecutor said it best... John Gioffredi is A ROCKSTAR !!!

My trial experience with this firm... Gioffredi: 2, State of Texas: 0

John Gioffredi himself has represented me twice to date in a trial setting where the outcome was a not guilty verdict. The first was initially charged as assault on a public servant (cop) and resisting arrest back in 2003. The basic premise of this case was two cops, one from Dallas and another f...rom Garland, who were both in the same car, what they referred to as a "ride along", tried to accuse me of attempting to break into my own car (wth?) When I started becoming a bit of a smart ass with the officers I ended up spending the night in a Garland jail with a fractured nose that was spewing blood and snot all over the place. Mind you, I was up against two cops with no video evidence of my innocence. They ended up dropping the assault on a public servant charge but proceeded to prosecute me with the resisting arrest charge. I called Gioffredi's office to see if he'd mind sitting down with me for a quick consultation. He agreed to meet me after he was through with court for the day. So I stopped by his office and we discussed the details of the case. He stated that resisting arrest is often little more than a bullshit charge, and that's exactly what it was. Fast forward 1.5 years. In the trial Gioffredi meticulously picked the testimony of both officers to pieces. You really have to see this guy work, it's pretty cool to follow his logic. The jury was convinced by his smooth and easy to digest explanation of the law and how it applied to the case. End result, Not Guilty! When the trial was over and I had my not guilty verdict in hand, Mr. Gioffredi even referred me to another attorney to handle the civil suit over the excessive force that the police officers used. Throughout the years I've used Gioffredi's office numerous times for speeding violations and the like and have had great success. Once I even was given deferred adjudication probation for speeding in Rowlett, violated it by speeding in Rowlett again and was simply given more deferred adjudication probation. I'm telling you, this guy is insanely good at what he does. Skip ahead to February 2009. I got pulled over for what the officers stated was a speeding violation. They said they smelled alcohol on my breath and asked me to get out of the vehicle. As naive as I could be I complied and began to take the field sobriety tests. If you've used Gioffredi for anything before, you'll know this is stupid because I blatantly disregarded the verbiage on the back of his card. Anyway, judging by the video I saw in court, I botched the walk the line test up pretty badly... in fact, instead of turning around I walked the line backward losing balance and using my arms to stabilize myself. From that test alone you'd have sworn I was hammered. I was arrested and transported to Lew Sterret where the officers attempted to get me to submit to more tests... at this point I started referring to the back of Gioffredi's card which I've had to use on numerous occasions for traffic violations. It basically says don't submit to the tests... no tests... no evidence, no evidence means not guilty. They just kept asking me to take more tests and more tests and reading from this checklist type sheet of paper as if they didn't hear or didn't care about me declining to take the tests. I became a bit of a smart ass again and spent the night in jail. I called Gioffredi's office up and arranged to go to trial. My license was suspended for 180 days for refusing to take the breath test or give blood but Gioffredi's office handled getting me an occupational license that would allow me to drive just about anywhere in Texas but only for 12 hours per day. I did get to split the 12 hours up however I wanted, but I had to do this in advance by creating a schedule of when I needed to drive. During the trial Gioffredi pulled out books and written sworn testimony from the cops and again began to pick their testimony to pieces. At one point in the trial, he actually had the Dallas cop of 20 years admit to performing the HGN (follow the pen with your eye) test improperly for
