Desperately needed to file

I needed to file bankruptcy after being left in the lurch by my previous lawyer, who departed the state to work elsewhere. She recommended Mr. Douglas, who agreed to work for the same price as the previous lawyer. I have no problems with Mr Douglas’ work. However, his front office help gave me the ...impression that by March of 2020, I was finished providing income information (I had 3 jobs, 2 of which were online) and we would be moving forward by the end of March. I had already told lawyers for the companies that were suing me that the bankruptcy would be filed by the end of March. It wasn’t. In fact, they kept asking for more income information through June, which they wanted in a specific online format that I couldn’t seem to provide instead of giving it to them at the office because of COVID-19. This was very frustrating and irritating. The bankruptcy was finally filed at the beginning of July 2020, and the hearing was at the end of July. I had to pay extra money after the hearing to the court, which I don’t remember being told about up front. All in all, it took over 2 years to get the whole thing done from the time I started with the first lawyer. If nothing else, it proved to me that I never want to go through this again.

Thank you for the review. Unfortunately, COVID affected everyone. Everything from Courthouses closing, to law firms and the Trustee's offices ensuring employees had proper tools and support to work from home 100% of the time, updating and training for processes to support the 100% remote environment. Thankfully we were setup to work from home part-time and our response to the pandemic was much quicker than some.

The lawyer took time to understand the entirety of my situation and was empathetic. The entire process was handled professionally. It seemed to take a long time for actual filing of my case but the pandemic didn’t help the situation. Overall pleased with this attorney and would recommend his office....

Thank you for the positive feedback! Since I don't know who you are, I will mention that the pandemic did cause a bit of a speed bump as most everyone transitioned to working from home instead of the office. But I am happy you were pleased overall!
