A lawyer that cares? (what?)

Lawyers are often a punchline, but Ben turns those ideas on their heads. Anything I had heard about lawyers led me to believe they are nasty, impersonal, charges-you-for-everything and at the end of the day not really fighting for your best interest, just your dollars. When I found myself in the s...tressful and consuming position of struggling with employer discrimination, contacting a lawyer at first seemed impossible. I didn't even want to talk to one. But I took a breath and got a (free) consultation. From that consultation onward (which went way longer than the 20 minute slot allotted), Ben proved over and over that he was personable. I'm an emotional person, and I don't really hide that. The highs and lows (and treachery) of litigation with your employer while still working there are so intense. I almost gave up a few times, and Ben listened to me again and again. He was very patient with my millions of questions, my uncertainties, my rants. He explained every single thing to me along the way and seemed more than happy to educate me about the muddled process. It was GREAT. Well, the situation was really stressful and terrible, but Ben was very supportive the whole way. There was one point in the process when I lost some trust. I read into some conversations, there were pieces of honest miscommunication. I had some not-so-great feedback. He sensed this immediately (totally in tune with his client) and encouraged me to come forward. He spoke with me on the phone for 45 minutes. I told him my feedback and he was AMAZINGLY receptive. He thanked me more than once, explained his piece and overall really took care of the professional relationship. At the end of the conversation, I told him it was only because he's so approachable and warm that I was able to give feedback at all (normally I'm kind of shy about that kind of thing). Hopefully I will never need his service again, but I know whom I'm calling if I do.

Guidance and strength when I was close to giving up

When I first contacted Ben I wasn't sure if I had a case or if I could afford to pursue my former employer even if I did. He took the time to learn about my situation, review the docs, and make a recommendation on how to make the best of my situation. After taking over, Ben stood our ground and was... much more successful than I thought we could be. He also took the time to ensure that I was on board every step of the way. I would highly recommend Ben.

Highly Recommend

I had the pleasure of having Ben as my attorney. I was not sure I had a case or not involving my employer. He provided guidance and empowerment to believe in me and my case. He was very calm, patient and quickly pulled the facts together and presented our claims to my employer.. His hard work result...ed in a settlement. I would highly recommend this firm to anyone with employment issues.

Ben Kwan-great to work with

in case you ever need an employment attorney, please consider Ben Kwan. He was a pleasure to work with and made a difficult situation manageable. Ben is professional, caring, ethical, timely and thorough. I would highly recommend him to others who are looking for an attorney who is compassionate... and operates with integrity. Ben represents the highest ideals and is a great ambassador for the University of St. Thomas law school. I have been impressed by his diligence. He also has a great sense of humor.
