He has vast knowledge, expertise and experience in criminal matters.
The Law Offices of Paul Stanko, Attorney at Law, are focused on providing high-quality client service and superior outcomes.
Paul Stanko’s practice is devoted to the defense of those accused of drunk driving, drug possession, and other offenses. From his Plymouth offices, he serves clients with criminal cases in Marshall, Kosciusko, Fulton, Miami, and Starke counties.
Paul Stanko has been chosen by his peers to serve as a member of the Board of Governors, Court of Appeals, and Historian of the American Judges Association, as well as chairman of the Retired/Senior Judges Committee and member of the Membership, Conference Site, and Court Security committees of that organization.
He is also a proud member of the Marshall County Bar Association, Kosciusko County Bar Association, Fulton County Bar Association and the (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) NORML Legal Committee.
Paul Stanko has practiced Indiana criminal law for over 45 years, since January 1979, when, at the age of 23, he was appointed a deputy prosecutor. In 1985, at the age of 30, he was appointed a presiding judge of the Superior Court of Lake County, one of Indiana's busiest courts. Since he returned to private practice in 1992, he has dedicated himself to the defense of persons accused of drunk driving, drug and other crimes. Paul Stanko has also taught Constitutional Law and other criminal justice courses (some of which he created) at the university level. He has been a prosecutor, judge, criminal defense attorney, or criminal justice professor his entire career.

Highly recommend!
Paul Stanko has been working with me on my OWI case for quite a while now, and I am very pleased. He is working toward the best possible outcome for me, and I am hopeful that the charge will be reduced. He is always responsive when I contact him, and he has not made me travel to court (out of state)...

Timely and welcome advice.
I contacted Mr. Stanko about handling a minor traffic ticket. Although he told me upfront that he rarely accepts such minor violations (he handles criminal cases, where clients face jail time), he was very helpful in telling me what I should do. When I went to court, I had all of my paperwork ready, ...
The fact is that you do not always need a lawyer. You always had the option of calling me back if you needed help, but I am glad you got it worked out without my assistance.

Felony Charge Dismissed!
My driving record was horrible when I was young, and by the time I was 30, I was a habitual traffic violator with a 10 year license suspension. To make matters worse, I then got arrested for driving with that suspension. I finally decided to contact a lawyer who specializes in that kind of case, and ...
I was only doing what I do, but I am always happy to do whatever I can to make things better for clients.

A real lifesaver
I nearly made a terrible mistake and tried to plead guilty at my first court date in Elkhart. Fortunately the magistrates don't accept guilty pleas at the first hearing. I had time to think things over and found Mr. Stanko. After the prosecutor offered probation we decided to do a straight guilty pl...
Even if the judge or magistrate in any given criminal case is open to accepting a guilty plea at the initial hearing, a person charged with a criminal offense (felony or misdemeanor) should never enter a guilty plea without consulting with a criminal defense lawyer.

“Over 20 years ago, when I had significant but temporary health issues, including sinus surgery and a mini-stroke, a couple of administrative details were missed on 2 cases (out of the many hundreds I handle on a yearly basis). Although the date of disposition is 2006, the dates of the supposed transgressions were in 2004 or earlier. ALSO, my temporary health issues were SPECIFICALLY recognized in the court's order.”
