Unresponsive - Failure To Perform
This attorney is just about the money. Taking it from you - and not performing the services you paid for. I fired him after a month into the case and he kept 100% of the retainer money which was $8100. This is my story: My story: My wife’s sister is 74 years old suffers from dementia and was in a...

Terrible save your money and aggravation
I payed thousands of dollars a document. In November it will be a year and it is still not completed. Forget email he doesn’t return them. It frightens me to think this is the service you receive? Maybe because I am a woman? He actually called back one time and called me a different client. He is uno...
I have no idea whom you are as you posted “anonymous”, but I am sorry that you are unsatisfied with our services. We do our very best to make each client happy. Most of our clients are in fact women. That’s not because we prefer women over men or vice versa. It’s just a statistical anomaly that women have a higher tendency to file divorces and hire divorce lawyers. My entire staff is composed of women. Each case is different than the others. Some go quickly. Some take more time. At the moment, the Court system is in complete chaos as we are short by 1 Judge in St. Lucie County, which impacts all the other judges. Additionally, all the COVID cases backed up the system. We spend hours trying to get a 30 minute hearing set because there is simply no availability on the judicial calendar. Anyways, if you’d like to reach out to me to discuss your particular matter, please give me a call and I will speak to you morning, noon or night.

Child Custody
I wouldn't recommend this attorney to anyone. Hiring him was a complete waste of money and him and his paralegal got nothing accomplished. Mr. gufford, as well as his entire office staff, were cometely and utterly unprofessional. It took weeks sometimes for them to even return a phone call, all of th...
I have no idea whom this client is or even if they are a client. The review is so devoid of any facts that it makes it impossible to determine the same. I suggest that any reader look at the other 60+ reviews of me and my firm and what those reviews say about not only me but my staff as well. That being said, while nobody likes receiving a negative review, it is constructive for me and my team to hear that criticism so that we can correct any deficiencies. My team is highly professional and we maintain almost constant communication with our clients. In fact, I give out my cell phone number to my clients so that they can reach me at almost any time. In any event, I would ask the writer of this review to contact me directly so that I can address any concerns that they might have.

Bad Experience; Cannot Recommend
I hired Gufford for my divorce case. He was initially interested in my case but once he received my retainer he seemed very disinterested and even quite unknowledgeable about my case and didn't even remember what he had told me previously regarding a name change. It took him once 21 days to return ...
Unfortunately, while I would love to respond specifically to this review, I am not at liberty to discuss the particulars of any client's case in an online forum. In any event, there are situations in which clients are unhappy and we do our best to resolve those situations. Billing issues are something that does occur on occasion which is why we send our clients' a "pre-bill" so that they can review the same and give us any feed back that they might have over any particular line item. If there is an error, we correct it. If there is some discrepancy, we usually err on the side of not charging for the line item simply to make the client happy. The fact of the matter is that in divorce litigation, people do change lawyers for a variety of reasons. When this occurs, we do our best to bring new counsel up to speed and provide them with the records that they request. In each and every case, there is an assigned paralegal to the matter. The paralegals assist me in making sure that each client's concerns and communications are attended to. I often times do take substantial time to speak with a client at length and even after hours. Unfortunately, during some lengthy conversations, nature does call and must be attended to so that I can concentrate on the issues being discussed as opposed to my own physical needs. Simply taking a moment to attend to the same is not inappropriate. As to retainer agreements, most attorneys work on an agreement that is similar to my own. Many attorneys in the local area use my agreement as their own. In conclusion, I am sorry that this person is unhappy and invite them to address any issues that they might have with me directly. That has probably already occurred. But, the invitation still stands While it is always nice to receive a positive review, it is also constructive to receive a negative review so that we can learn from the situation.

Poor
I had a terrible experience with Joe Gufford in my personal divorce case. He did nothing but take my retainer, run up a ridiculous bill, accomplish nothing then demand more money. His staff was rude and unhelpful and he was never available when I needed him. I have had no less that six attorneys wor...
"No less than 6 lawyers over the last two years". Hmmmm. I am sorry that this alleged client is dissatisfied with our services and would certainly be happy to discuss the matter with the client to make sure that his/her issues are properly addressed. We make every effort to ensure that our client's are happy and satisfied with our services. As to this particular person, I am not at liberty to discuss the details of the case in an online forum because of client confidentiality issues. However, with respect to cases that I handle, I make myself available to all of my client's not only via my office telephone but also my personal cell phone so that my client's have access to me at virtually any hour of the day. Divorces are often difficult, costly and document intensive. Many times, clients simply do not follow the instructions they are given or cannot finance protracted litigation. Because of this, many times clients hire us to perform a specific portion of their case and not other aspects. For example, a client may hire us to represent them for the limited purposes of a domestic violence injunction or to assist them at mediation. My staff is not rude nor are they unhelpful. Unfortunately, no matter how hard you might try to assist a client within their limited means, they will be dissatisfied. In any event, when our representation is terminated because of differences between the client and ourselves, we do our best to make sure that new counsel is brought up to speed on the status of the case so that the client's interests can be protected. I am sure that such was done in this matter. Many times, even though we may be owed money on a particular matter, we provide copies of the files to new counsel at not cost. Unfortunately, not every client is going to be happy with your efforts, no matter how diligent you might be. Again, I invite this client to contact me if he/she so desires to discuss his/her issues and any ways that we can improve our client service.
