Christopher Frey was born in Richmond Hill, Queens, N.Y. He moved to Clearwater, FL and graduated from Clearwater Central Catholic HS. He has resided in the Pinellas, Suwanee, Lee, Broward, Duval, Pinellas, Pasco, and Hernando counties. He resides in Tampa, Hillsborough County, but practices throughout the State of Florida, including Pinellas, East Pasco, West Pasco, Hillsborough, Seminole, Orange and Manatee Counties. Chris has four children, a son, and three daughters. Chris has always been active in community, school and church events. He has been a member of 3 School Advisory Councils, sports leagues, where he coached football and soccer. Chris is active in the Florida, Pasco, Hernando, and Clearwater Bar Associations, Inns of Court, and was Vice President of the Hernando County Bar Association. Mr. Frey has lectured on the law in various capacities, and has assisted teaching trial advocacy at the Stetson University College of Law. Chris is affiliated with Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, Rotary Club, and BNI. Chris served as legal counsel for the United School Employees of Pasco union, and is a certified Legal Defense Plan Attorney for the State of Florida Fraternal Order of Police, Florida State Labor Council, representing law enforcement officers in police-involved shootings, use of deadly force, and Internal Affairs investigations. Christopher is also a Critical Response Attorney for the United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA). Mr. Frey has also served as a media consultant for numerous television, cable news, radio, and print media sources regarding Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law, and various other criminal law-related topics. Mr. Frey has tried approximatley 267 jury trials to verdict.
Professionally, Chris interned with State Attorney, Mark Ober at the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office, and continued interning with Holland & Knight, in its media law department. At Stetson College of Law, Chris clerked for George Rahdert, Esq. and the St. Petersburg Times. Mr. Frey worked as a law clerk on School Board of Nassau County, Florida v. Arline, 480 U.S. 273 (1987). In Arline, the United States Supreme Court ruled that a contagious disease is a handicap under the American with Disabilites Act. The case became nationally reknown as the "AIDS" case. The motion picture "Philidelphia" starring Tom Hanks is founded in this court decision.
Mr. Frey then clerked on The Florida Star v. B.J.F., 491 U.S. 208 (1989), which also ascended to the legal pinacle of United States Supreme Court. Chris not only participated in the preparation of merit and jurisdictional briefs, but also shared the rare opportunity of attending oral argument in the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Frey's first published article in the Stetson Law Review was about this case.
Mr. Frey is an accomplished trial attorney with an outstanding record of success with an overwhelming number of jury acquittals in his 247 jury trials to verdict. His published legal writings have been referenced by the United States Supreme Court, the Harvard Law Review, various professional journals and law reviews, the U.S. Department of Justice and a National Institutes on Scholarly Archives.
Position: Chris is presently a partner at Galewski Law Group, PA, and practices in the areas of Criminal Defense, Bankruptcy, Foreclosure Defense, Civil Litigation, Immigration, Real Estate, and Contract law. Mr. Frey served as a lead criminal trial attorney in the Spring Hill and New Port Richey offices of Carlson, Meissner, Hart &Hayslett, P.A., handling all Criminal, DUI, Traffic, White Collar Crime, Violations of Probation, and general criminal defense matters, specializing in extremely complex and difficult criminal trials involving highly entrapment, Child Sexual Abuse, 10/20/Life ans self-defense (Stand Your Ground) cases, and alibi defenses. Mr. Frey has served the people of the State of Florida as both an Assistant State Attorney, and an Assistant Public Defender.
