Imagine you filed for marriage-based green card. Your first interview went well. You got your conditional green card. You file i-751 a few years later and your spouse does not show up for the interview. The officer is furious. She sets up another interview in a few weeks. We come. She separates us. A...ggressively interrogates for 4 hours! 4 hours!!! I'm not kidding! Obviously, there will be discrepancies. I'm shocked. I don't understand why it happened to me. Maybe it was my stupid misdemeanor I was arrested for more than 10 years ago? The lawyer that I had at the time was useless. In 6 months I receive a letter that states that my conditional residency is terminated and I am officially on the removal proceedings. I panic. I ask my lawyer what should I do. She does not know. I start doing a ton of attorney consultations trying to see if I can trust a lawyer again. This time I am extremely careful. This is a life and deported life situation. I lived here half of my life and don't feel like going back. 4 months go by and I receive an NTA (notice to appear). That thing looked scary. I start imagining life back home. I start thinking about alternatives. Canada maybe? Spain? I'm doing my research. Taking my time to think. Maybe too much. In a couple years I finally decide to hire Katerina Kurbatova. At this point I think I did like 3 consultations before hiring her and a ton of consultations with other attorneys. So we show up at the court hearing (that the NTA was for). Katerina says a few legal words and the judge proclaims "Ok, the removal proceedings are cancelled." I'm like "What???" That was it? I receive a paper that says my removal was terminated. A year goes by and my green card was approved too. And Katerina and her team were there every step of the way to guide me along the way. With every update to my case I was immediately notified and provided with all the information and the list of next steps and documents that were necessary.
