Joel Stephen Jackson

As a person that needs to drive a van full of children, Mr. Jackson was able to have a favorable outcome for me. My Reckless Driving charge was reduced to a charge of Improper Driving. This is a 3 demerit point violation, not a 6 demerit point CRIMINAL misdemeanor conviction. I am extremely happy t...hat I don't have that criminal misdemeanor!! Although, I know what I did was wrong, I am thankful Mr. Jackson was able to assist in getting it lowered. His staff was always kind, courteous, and very patient. He has an exceptional staff. On July 8, 2017, I was pulled over on I-77 for speeding while traveling home to North Carlina from Michigan. I was in Wythe County when it happened. My daughter wasn't feeling well and had thrown up a couple of times already. I wanted to get her home. Unfortunately, I decided to outpace a tractor tra...iler that was clogging up the roads. Upon doing so, I sped up and was pulled over allegedly doing 22 over the limit. In Virginia, this is automatically a reckless driving charge. Something you absolutely have to take very seriously. No ticket is issued because it is a misdemeanor offense that requires a court hearing with potential jail time and fines if found guilty. The next day, I did a Google search and found Joel's contact info. I called and spoke to Joel's assistant, Emily. She took some basic information down and later that day, I received a call from Joel himself. And for the record, I called other attorneys in the area that never even returned my call. So there's that. At any rate, Joel helped me understand the charge and provided recommendations on how I should prepare if I chose to defend myself in court. He also went over his services, his flat fee (which I thought was very reasonable), and what documents and proactive actions I should take to improve my outlook. As a huge plus, Joe was my representative at court during my hearing date. That meant I was not required to attend personally, saving me 3.5 hours of travel time one way, and a lost day of personal time off from work. Throughout the process, I received numerous updates and reminders from Emily. This was very reassuring as knew I would not be in court during my hearing date. I am happy to report that Joel was able to exceed my expectations. Not only was my offense reduced to a non-misdemeanor charge with no demerits or points on my license, I also ended up receiving a fine far lower than what I was expecting. Considering the peace of mind of retaining a clean driving record and no insurance rate spikes, I simply would not hesitate to recommend Joel enough if you ever encounter a situation similar to mine. He'll literally walk you through everything you need to do to achieve the best possible result.

I was completely satisfied with Joel Jackson, and his legal assistant Emily Lackey.
