I hired Joel Jackson after receiving a speeding ticket for reckless driving in Virginia, after calling a handful of lawyers in the area. One thing I really appreciated about Mr. Jackson was that he didn't try to scare me about the possible worst case scenario outcomes of the charge as many others did..., I assume trying to justify their incredibly high prices. Joel was honest and very helpful, guiding me through the recommended steps I needed to take (e.g., taking a drivers improvement course) before my court date. The outcome was that the ticket was dismissed.

I hired this attorney because I had a speeding ticket. I was not written up as reckless (always be respectful to officers when pulled over) but I would have still gotten points on my license. Joel was able to get it down to a non-moving violation of defective equipment. The fine was high, but still f...ar better than paying higher insurance rates from a moving violation. I had been stopped late on a Sunday night around Marion on my way back home from being in Pennsylvania for the weekend. I didn't have cruise control, and being on the road for so long, and given the fact that there was really no other cars on the road at the time, I had a momentary lapse in judgment ...and awareness, and I was caught speeding during the stretch I was stopped. When the officer told me he had me at 94 in a 70, I was shocked. I knew I was speeding, but I truly didn't realize I had been going that fast. Regardless, I was very respectful and cooperative with the officer during the stop. Joel Jackson's office ironically had been the second contact choice I made to find myself an attorney, though I attest now that it should have been the first. Even though I had a clean driving record (no tickets) prior to this reckless driving charge, I was very worried that I would be found guilty and have that Class 1 Misdemeanor conviction stuck on my record and potentially have my license suspended, which I needed for commuting to work! I had also been told by the lawyer I had contacted before I contacted Joel's office that Smyth County is one of the tougher districts when it comes to traffic citations. But Joel's office told me the actions I would need to take to help my case, which I did before my hearing. One of those several actions was getting a speedometer calibration by radar gun, which showed my speedometer was off by 3 mph. This definitely helped my case. But thankfully with Joel's excellent advice and representation, and a benign judge, and lots of prayers to the good Lord above, the judge bumped it down to only 80 in a 70 and only an infraction, rather than Reckless Driving, a Class 1 Misdemeanor. The judge had said keep in mind that this kind of ruling happens only once every 15 years. I had to pay a $250 fine in addition to the clerk fee, which was about $69, so a total of $319. The legal fee for Joel's services is absolutely worth it. So if you or someone you know needs legal representation for a traffic citation, I'm telling you - call the Law Office of Joel Jackson and hire Joel to represent you. You won't have a better shot at getting a desirable outcome for your case than hiring this guy.
