John Matthew Weiland

Mr. John Weiland is an excellent traffic attorney. I am from Washington, DC and was pulled over for speeding on I-95 in Hanover County, VA, charged with reckless driving with speed (95/65). Despite my high rate of speed and the judge's high conviction rate, Mr. Weiland managed to successfully reduc...e my charge (which was a misdemeanor) to just a traffic infraction of improper driving, thus allowing me to maintain a clean criminal record and avoid further strict penalties. Since I work for the US government and hold a security clearance, it was also extra imperative for me to reduce the charge as a misdemeanor would jeopardize my employment. Following Mr. Weiland's guidance, I took several measures to prepare for the trial (e.g., driving school, speedometer calibration, character letters) which collectively influenced the judge positively. Mr. Weiland is a very professional, prepared, and competent attorney, and I would highly recommend his services.

Passing through Virginia and received a serious ticket. Found the firm on the web. Spoke with Mr. Weiland and he asked specific questions as to the trooper, details of the traffic stop and he even knew the particular judge that was being assigned. He laid out his strategy for reducing and/or elimina...ting the ticket. Engaged Mr. Weiland and found his responsiveness and knowledge to be refreshing. I did not have to attend court. He handled everything and the case resulted in total dismissal. While I hope to never get another ticket in Virgina; I will utilize and highly recommend him if I or my family/friends ever need his services.

When John took over my reckless driving case file, it had capital letters written across the front reading, "LONG SHOT." He read it, organized it, highlighted it, memorized it, and developed a strategy to win it. He called me the night before, met with me the morning of, talked me through what he w...ould do and say, told me what I should do and say, and warned me honestly of the worse-case scenario. When I met him again in the courtroom, he was smiling. He knew the judge. He knew the trooper who ticketed me. And most importantly, he knew me. As I watched the myriad sentences being handed out before my case, some resulting in jail time, I quickly realized that John was by far the most professional, most well-prepared, most articulate, and most respected lawyer in the courtroom. This didn't keep me from sweating it out, but John would look back and smile at me periodically to reassure me. He clearly had a plan, and I could tell it was going his way. After an hour or so, I stood closely, silently by John while he presented my case -- he pleaded no contest with mitigating evidence (all of which his firm had instructed me to provide!). I was amazed how much he knew about me personally, how he had dissected each document I provided, and how strongly he stood in my defense. He was a natural -- good timing, solid logic, and sound argument. I found out that day that John is prior-military, which no doubt contributes to his work ethic, resourcefulness, professional relationships, and preparation. He was one of those civilians who, immediately after 9-11, put his dream of being a lawyer aside to defend his country. Even in that role, he stood out among Infantrymen as a Special Forces Non-Commissioned Officer. In the Army, we call someone like John a Subject Matter Expert -- he is a man at the top of his game. At the same time, John is pleasant, personal, confident, and hard-working. The flat fee charged by John's firm was reasonable and more than worth the miraculous result John achieved -- me walking out of the courtroom 15min later, paying a lower-than-deserved fine, and driving back to work. John said afterwards that "the stars were aligned" for my case to turn out the way it did, but I know that John did the aligning himself by thoroughly preparing to defend me in court. John's heart and mind are 100% dedicated and committed to winning the "long shots." I don't ever plan to be in court again, God willing, but if I do, I will call John Matthew Weiland.
