When John took over my reckless driving case file, it had capital letters written across the front reading, "LONG SHOT." He read it, organized it, highlighted it, memorized it, and developed a strategy to win it. He was one of those civilians who, immediately after 9-11, put his dream of being a lawyer aside to defend his country. Even in that role, he stood out among Infantrymen as a Special Forces Non-Commissioned Officer. In the Army, we call someone like John a Subject Matter Expert -- he is a man at the top of his game. At the same time, John is pleasant, personal, confident, and hard-working. The flat fee charged by John's firm was reasonable and more than worth the miraculous result John achieved -- me walking out of the courtroom 15min later, paying a lower-than-deserved fine, and driving back to work. John said afterwards that "the stars were aligned" for my case to turn out the way it did, but I know that John did the aligning himself by thoroughly preparing to defend me in court. John was great to work with! Being new to Virginia and dealing with the traffic laws and their enforcement here can be frustrating. After being cited by Chesterfield County Police for both littering and reckless driving I had a great deal of frustration and anxiety worrying about what to do next.
