Hi! I am A.J. and I am the principal attorney at Dhali P.C.. I graduated from New York Law School and I began my employment law career defending employers at Laughlin Falbo et al LLP. I then decided to shift gears and worked as an Executive Director, for an international non-governmental organization (NGO) fighting big corporations who were polluting inner city neighborhoods.
Armed with this experience, I returned to the practice of law as in-house counsel for the labor federation Change to Win, defending employees and hourly workers like the Teamsters and SEIU from employers who were cracking down on employee and union rights. I even went on a strike on behalf of my union brothers and sisters! Inspired by the struggle of working families and workers, I started my own law firm soon after, in 2008, and engaged exclusively in employment and labor law. I have since successfully sued Fortune 500 companies, regional employers, and government agencies for violating federal and state employment laws, resulting in favorable settlements to my clients. I am presently a board member of the “Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association” (MWELA) a plaintiff’s side trial employment law association. I am also a member of the “National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA)” and a Board of Director of the “Crittenton Services of Greater Washington,” a local non-profit that empowers teenage girls to achieve, educational, cultural and social excellence.
I am a huge fan of Liverpool Football Club. And I will get up at 3 am to watch a match! And usually with my son in tow! My wife Stacie (who is also an attorney) complaints about my cheering as it wakes her up! But our front three always scores! They are so bloody good!
As a Sikh, I also attend Sunday services. It keeps me grounded and re-emphasizes to me the principles of justice and equality, and helping those in need.
I love to read, and I am currently reading “The Metaphysical Club” by Louis Menard and “Shibumi” by Trevanian.
Maybe In My Next Life!I also always wanted to be a rock star and a Formula 1 race car driver, preferably at the same time! Unfortunately, both those wishes seemed to have gone up in flames! C’est la vie!
