Matthew Thomas Hovey

Mr. Hovey was hired after an emergency child custody situation. With three parties involved in this case Mr. Hovey had his hands full from the start. He helped deal with all parties. He called us on a Sunday for an unexpected situation. Mr. Hovey emailed us while away on vacation due to a last... minute change in court dates. We spoke on the phone around my work schedule even when that did not coincide with a regular 9am to 5pm work day. He kept our family updated on the case at all times. Mr. Hovey gave great legal advise and guided us through the entire legal process. Mr. Hovey is professional, dedicated & compassionate. He is our lawyer but treated us like a friend. He was knowledgeable of the laws and processes and advised me of several options and avenues that I could take. He did not pressure me to take one option over another but explained clearly what the implications of each choice would be and how it would affect the outcome. However, he was ready, willing, and able to take a strong stance to be sure that I received everything that I was legally entitled. I felt that his level of dedication to my case would be the same no matter what choice I made or avenue I chose to travel. I felt that Attorney Hovey truly cared about my well-being and he was not just "making a buck"on another divorce. His fees were reasonable and fair. I was very please with the service he provided. The divorce and settlement process can be long and tedious. It was a great feeling to have someone on my side willing to go the extra mile for me and protect my rights. I could not recommend Matt Hovey as a divorce attorney. After shoveling $4,000 that I couldn't afford I was no better off than when I started. I never felt that my case was a big priority for him and I often had to contact him repeatedly to get a response. Admittedly my wife and her attorney are o...ut for blood but Matt said he could help me make the best of it. All of the suggestions he made were ill advised and cost me more time and money. In the end he told me flat out that my wife had me by the balls. I feel like he should have been more up front in level setting expectations. I believe that he is inexperienced. When he did respond his email were detailed and intelligent. I do believe that he was trying to help and I know that he did try to give me a break on the bill. I just had hope for better results. Now I am left to fend for myself and I am just not sure which is worse.
