Matthew Thomas Hovey

I hired Mr. Hovey when a former employer unfairly refused to pay wages that he owed me. For 14 months, Mr. Hovey walked me through each step of the process of my lawsuit. He always put me at ease and used layman's terminology when speaking to me , although his correspondence to the defendant's lawy...er was always highly professional wording. He had an incredible knowledge about my particular issue, and kept me focused on the task at hand. He honestly and quickly answered any questions I had and offered suggestions when I didn't even know what questions to ask. He was more interested in justice being served than in trying to get "big bucks" from my former boss. The case went all the way to Federal court , and I am happy and relieved that he won the case for me. He fought an honest and fair fight and didn't try to gouge the defendant. Mr. Hovey was hired after an emergency child custody situation. With three parties involved in this case Mr. Hovey had his hands full from the start. He helped deal with all parties. He called us on a Sunday for an unexpected situation. Mr. Hovey emailed us while away on vacation due to a last... minute change in court dates. We spoke on the phone around my work schedule even when that did not coincide with a regular 9am to 5pm work day. He kept our family updated on the case at all times. Matt Hovey is a very excellent lawyer, he was able to successfully get me primary custody of my child after her mother unexpectadly moved to a different state. Mr. Hovey is very knowledgable and always honest. He obviously cares about his cases but at the same time remains objective to be able to giv...e the best advice. His hourly rate may was not the cheapest of the other lawyers I spoke to, but it is comparable. However, this is more than made up for as he is very mindful of my monitary situation. He cut my upfront retaining fee in half and my bills were never as high as I expected them to be. and he has been willing to work with me on payments. As an example of how he is mindful of cost when I was talking to other lawyers to decide which one to hire the other lawyers want to file some writ with courts and force some initial hearing that would have cost me thousands and even after this hearing I would still need to go to court for custody. Mr. Hovey explained that he could file this writ but he recomended sending a letter explaining the law to my ex and we would end up in the exact same place as the writ but for a couple hundred bucks. It was an obvious choice. Being that this is the first time I ever needed a lawyer, he was able to calm my nerves and make me feel very comftorable and he is personable and never made me feel like I was being talked down to. He always made sure that I was kept in the loop and informed me of how and why he did the things he did. Like he explained that even though I would want to he wouldn't attack every point my ex was going to bring up because the burden of proof was on her and it wouldn't help. Turns out he was right. In short I am very pleased that I placed my trust in Matt Hovey and if you find yourself in the need of an attorney he is deffinatly the one to have.

Although things are not completely over, he continues fighting for my children and my family. Matt not only believed our story ...but joined the fight for justice.
