Areas of Practice: 40% Divorce and Separation, 30% child custody, 20% criminal defense, and 10% appeals. This is in general. I am a litigator. I do almost all areas of litigation. I seem to be the kind of person that people either really like or really don't like as you can see from the reviews. I am not a therapist nor a best friend. I will not tell you what you want to hear to make you happy, nor will I keep you case going by telling you what you want to hear as I bill by the hour. I do my best to be honest about your likely outcome and bring about a resolution in a reasonable time. Sometimes people insist on litigating a losing case. I will do it, my clients are the boss, but it is always a good idea to take the legal advice you are paying for. I take my responsibilities very, very seriously. One of them is to tell you the truth about your situation.

misinformed by Susan
I would not recommend Susan to anyone. Susan's law firm was very unprofessional and unresponsive to my needs. She was always unavailable and very rarely returned phones calls. We were not informed of all aspects of the case to make a intelligent informed decision. She did not even sit with her cl...
I cannot be sure who this person or family is. What happens sometimes, I can say, is that the family member is in fact guilty, but they do not want to admit it to their family. So I know what the facts are and what evidence the DA has and I make the best deal I can because that is what my client wants, knowing how much worse it would be after trial when we lose because they are guilty and the evidence is very much against them. . Then the family gets mad because the "innocent" loved one who is lying to them goes to jail, they never see the true evidence and I have to keep quiet about what my client admitted to me. Another scenario is every now and then a judge will recommend a treatment program that will get people out sooner as a apart of a plea bargain, but very rarely the prison system does not have room or rejects them for the program. Out of my control.

Incompetent and poor communication skill
Having her as a lawyer has been a nightmare. I was very innocent before taking her as my attorney. After dealing with Ms. Betzjitomir for 6 to 12 months, I start to realize what a terrible attorney she was. Of the many instances of incompetence, the most stand out was she spent a total of 3-5 mins...
The only preparation needed to be a witness is to be prepared to tell the truth. I have to prepare the questions and evidence for many hours before hand. Any client can call and make an appointment to meet with me when they feel the need. Sometimes a person receives not because they ask not.

Unethical, Unresponsive, Sarcastic, Not Detail Oriented
The purpose of me writing this review is to save other people the unfortunate behavior that I received from this lawyer & her staff. I terminated services & submitted a grievance to the Grievance Committee regarding Susan Betzjitomer’s unethical behavior regarding my case, due to their lack of respo...
I have never had a successful grievance against me including this one. Anyone at all can file one no matter what the facts are. Clients are supposed to review documents that they sign for accuracy. And sometimes when a client is unpleasant to me or my staff I do put them in their place. Politeness helps on both sides. Enough said.

Not detail oriented, not responsive...
I was a client of Ms. Betzjitomir. She failed to be responsive, keep me up to date on my case, return original documentation that I submitted to her &/or her staff, did not answer my inquires or show proof of services rendered regarding my bill. Work on my case was not completed thoroughly and in t...
There are all kinds of reasons why things are not done as quickly as a client would like. Many of them are not within the attorney's control. I work for the best result, which is not necessarily a fast result. The legal system is not a fast food restaurant. Our policy is to copy clients on every document going in and out of the office. Original documents often need to be filed with the court and we don't get those back, they stay on file with the court.

Disgruntled clients happen. This comment says more about the speaker than it does about me.
